Yeah - that effing Gaffney catch sure went in our favor. When we were in our heyday back in the 90s. We got many calls in our favor that pissed off opposing fans. If we rise to consistent competitors again, we will get favored calls again. Thems that bring in the biggest chunks of revenue are the darlings of all conferences, including the SEC.
It would have to have been going on for many years and involve huge numbers of officials...there is not one bit of evidence that anything like this has ever happened. Just wild speculation that makes no sense. Believe things for which you have tangible evidence. It doesn't take 100s. It could take a single phone call from Hoover to the head official on the crew telling them to look out for certain things that Tennessee does that could have been flagged in previous games. Also, in the same conversation, that the SEC office is taking a look at their performance after the game.
Hint hint, wink wink, all of a sudden Tennessee is under a microscope for ghost holds, ticky tack hands to the face, and debatable PI calls.
Refs do not have to answer to anybody but the SEC office and that is all done behind closed doors.
Given all the front facing info, this is a reasonable theory. Refs NEVER have to answer to anybody publicly.
dang, didnt know they played texas twice! I remember last year when 1 loss was enough for even bulldog fans to realize they didnt deserve to be in the playoffs, but sure, go ahead and make a case for themA 3 loss Georgia would have played a significantly tougher schedule than us.....(at Texas, neutral Texas, neutral Clemson, at Bama, at Ole Miss, TN at home)
Id argue they might deserve to be ranked over us.
If we dont win this weekend, we dont belong

I would be shocked if they don't have some sort of objective system by which referees were evaluated.I know logically it makes sense for conferences to want specific results for games. Since that is the case, what is the answer for officiating crews in the future? Do we keep letting the conferences manage their crews?
There’s gotta be a better way. Grade refereeing crews and let the ones with the highest grade call the bigger/more meaningful games? They would also receive a higher payout based on how big the game is. That incentivizes all the refs to want to call games as accurately and fairly as possible.
The refs make bad calls, and miss calls every game - sometimes it favors our opponents and sometimes it favors us...When have the Vols ever gotten a favorable call from the refs?
UGA has 3 wins against teams currently ranked in the Top 12 by the Coaches. They lost to No. 13 and 16. Only 1 of those 5 games was a home game for them. No one else this year can touch that resume.it's clear to me that a 3-loss bama or georgia get in to the playoff, while a 3-loss tennessee would be excluded
Normally I wouldn’t agree with this but I agree with this. I expect both TN and GA to get the calls. There is a deeply perceived belief that there is a bias by the powers at SEC central office against Tennessee after many suspicious incidences over the years that have gone against the Orange and Whites, Well Saturday will show what has really been going on. Greg Sankey and his cohorts, actually there is only thing they really want and that is for the SEC to be at the summit of College Football (in the last 25 years 17 champions have come from the SEC). So to achieve this they will identify who has the best chance (Alabama, Georgia and sometimes LSU come to mind) and then "help" them in those moments that always seem to go in their favor.
Move forward to 2024, now with the extended Play Offs most people expected the "at large" places going 3 to both the SEC and BIG10 but the selection committee have thrown a knuckle ball by ranking wins over strength of schedule, so Indiana who have only beaten teams marginally stronger than high School teams and Boise St who could be one, are up for a playoff place (do you think Vegas would have them favorites against Alabama, Ole Miss, or quite frankly ANY SEC team, exactly?
So where are you today Mr Sankey? He must be in fear that If Tennessee lose against Vanderbilt and Georgia lose against Georgia Tech, then the second SEC team would have 3 losses and according the selection committee only 1 SEC would make the play offs.
So to prove there is no SEC bias against Tennessee watch this weekend because WE and Georgia are the ones who need to win and then the SEC have another "two chips in the big game" and to prove my point/suspicion, if the games gets close you remember this article especially when The Vols get a very favorable decision, the type that used to go against us.
Go Vols
So you are part of the dumb ref conspiracy crowd. Why are you people so dumb? The large Vandy donor bankroll will make sure the Vols are not getting any favorable calls from the refs. If the Vols lose, then they can get stupid Bama back into the playoffs. Out there in the bitter cold in that small stadium, they are all they will have. Its Vols vs the world this Saturday.
When have the Vols ever gotten a favorable call from the refs?
