Third Down for What copied by Florida

Kansas City is doing the same thing during the Titans game. Doesn't appear that 3rd down for what was an exclusive UT idea.

UT may have been the 1st nationally televised team to do it,and since 100k people were so into it,it made it that much more noticeable and publicized... but Im hearing it on some of the NFL games today...

Lololololololol you haven't been but have an opinion on how it went over during the games???

Maybe you should learn to read. I don't have an opinion on how it's going over now. It's clearly effective. And as I stated I think it's a great idea. My opinion is on it's long term effectiveness if it gets over played. This board is all about people posting their opinions. If you don't like mine feel free to put me on ignore.

I agree. That sounds awesome! I'm sure I'll see it first hand when I'm at the Florida game. I'd just hate for it to be played so much that it's not effective anymore.

If we are in a close game or beating Florida I guarantee 3rd down for what will bring a level of insanity and volume not seen in Neyland since Florida 1998. I was there for USU and it was bad ass.

Did they do Turn down for what like Florida or Third down for what? Preseason football doesn't count anyway..102k aren't watching that or millions of others on TV

No I wasn't there. But even on television it was annoying. I'm sure fans are still loving it in person. It's something new. But playing it 100+ times a game the excitement over it will surely fade. I think it's a great idea and they should continue doing it. But playing it less frequently would increase the impact when it is played. Sometimes less is more.

Utah State: 14 3rd downs (3 of 14)

Arky State: 17 3rd downs (4 of 17)

How could they play it 100+ times when our opponents have had a combined 31 third downs all season?

As well it should. In that situation I hope they play it as much as possible! I just think playing it when we're up big late in the game is a waste.

So...some are rushing to crap on it now because some NFL teams used the original song in some preseason games?

UT had it ready to go and introduced it at the open practice, so its not like UT was weeks behind.

Look, UT made their own version with Hinton. Fans latched on to it immediately from day 1.

UT has as much of a claim to it as anyone else.

Ok I'm obviously exaggerating saying 100+. But it honestly feels like that many. JMHO

If you haven't been to either game then you really don't get it.

It will be a big improvement in our home field advantage this year. Was at both games and noticed yesterday the crowd is really starting to get into it.

Florida game will be LOUD

With those numbers... I don't care if they did play it 100+ times

It was loud in 2012.

It's usually loud when UF comes to town.

It means we can't just be UT and do our own thing

We have to get gimmicky

As bad as we have been since 2008, it is getting hard to go to games watch our fans sit on their hands while our Team gets pummeled.

I'm ok with generating some excitement for the fans and recruits that attend the games.

The "money" comment threw me.

Dooley is gone Larry.

Ask Richt or Spurrier if they'd rather play CBJ's Vols at home or in Neyland.

Dooley wasn't UT's coach in the 90s or 00s, and it was still loud when UF came to town.

Given the history of the series, crowd noise is overrated. It was loud in Gainesville in 2001.

Whoever runs the ball better wins. Given what I've seen from UT's OL I like our chances.
