Good take. The thing that I might throw out there is don't judge next season on this years 10-2 record. This was an exceptional season give where CJH started. Though I think he is the guy, yea, 9-3 should not be sh** on next year. Nor 8-4 though stomach cramps are reasonable. 7-5? That is full on hot runs.
8-4 or 9-3 is my prediction for next year we are breaking in a new QB and rebuilding the offensive line but I have faith in Heup and the offensive coaching staff that are offense will be good again next season and keep rolling now the defense is another story lol. Two definite losses , at Bama and Georgia, at Florida is a coin flip we haven’t won in Gainesville since 2003 but I think we can win that one and every other game is winnable.

Is notorious for over analyzing both wins and losses. If anyone is new to Volvation this week, they assume we are all fair weathered fans at best.

I’m as disappointed as everyone else in the loss yesterday, but I have faith in CJH. If you watched the press conference last night, no one is more upset than he. Have a little faith that Danny White hired the right coach for the long-term.
Been a while since the weather’s been fair enough for the bandwagon to get going, but I get what you’re saying.
Most on here are like me and just invest too much emotion in a silly game. But fans should care and get mad. Sports for compensation is purely for entertainment. Therefore, without fans they’d exist as no more than activities. Organized sports as we know it didn’t begin before the last 100 years. I guess what I’m getting at is sports as we know it wouldn’t exist without an audience, so we have a right to be upset and overreact.

There are no fair weather fans left, dude.

Absolutely. It also never ceases to amaze me that there are some fans who seem to want a Buddha-like sereneness to exist in all fans, where we take wins and losses equally, without self or emotion. Based on the generational cluster-^%$# we experienced last night, I'd say the fans here have been pretty darned chill, overall.

This is true, but we do have some front runners. When everything is good we have a lot that talk a lot of **** to everything that moves. The second we have a bad night it turns a lot of people into something other than the best version of themselves. We are who we are. I’m here for it and we’re going to be ok.

I agree, m'kay??

Agreed wholeheartedly. With that being said, a single game, regardless of the opponent, won’t dictate the trajectory of this program. (Ifwe lose to Vandy, I’ll be singing a different tune.)

This is not Josh's first rodeo.

He is the CEO of Tennessee Football and needs to own this. His staff and his plan. Anyone who doesn't understand this has never had skin in the game leading anything.

I can cut him some slack for a loss but that was the worst Tennessee D I've seen in 40 years, an epic collapse.

Game prep and planning are his responsibility, the D was bad but the offense was the same as the last few games, in fact more restricted. Forcing the ball to Tillman over better looks. SC did a great job scheming offense to multiple guys and different looks. Tenn was lazy in their game prep and it showed.

I like CJH but he needs to take a long look at how he manages his staff, their performance and hold them accountable. You cash the check, take the feedback.

I believe that Heupel has and will continue us to “own” the poor performance. Did you watch the post game presser last night?

It's actually not the negavols that are the problem. It's the ones who keep thinking we are going to be better than we should be year after year that gets disappointed. They're also the ones who talk the most crap (I'm never going to hear the end of it from Georgia and Bama fan coworkers/friends that make fun of us for talking so much crap). I've actually been illuminated to see that the negavols are the good guys 😂
We have improved overall greatly this year as a whole. We laid a egg last night doesn’t erase the big wins. You don’t fluke into beating who we have beaten this year. If you don’t think we haven’t improved since Heupel has been here I am not going to bother trying to convince you. We are 9-2 with one game left. We could go 11-2 if we win our bowl. Going into the year very few would have said we would be 9-2 right now. GBO

Wasn’t as bad as this

Florida 62, Tennessee 37 | Sept. 17, 1995

although the SC passing offense gave me a similar feeling of disgust.

If CJH is the long term guy, we don’t lose to Vandy. Backup QB or not. So he better find a way to salvage this incredible season. 9-3 staring at 9-4 is no better than what Jones accomplished here because he couldn’t handle the layups when they mattered. We missed one layup, can’t miss the second one. 10-2 with a sugar bowl appearance is still a great year.

Lol I don't know that I’d call most of what’s found here to be “analyzing”

to be fair, recently Tennessee has gained a lot of new or old fans (who had lost interest).

I've been around and following TN football since Moby dick was a minnow... well since the late 80s. We desperately need a new DC and DB coach. So far coach Heup has been slightly better than Butch Jones. I'm glad I didn't buy a "feels like 98 sweatshirt".. this season feels more like 2016.

Your serious aren’t you.

Butch was 5-7 year 1. They lost by 2 scores or more 5 times. Lost by 28 or more 4 times.

Heupel was 7-6 and had Tennessee in a bowl. Lost by 28 just once. Lost by one score 3 times.

Butch through 11 games in year 2 was 5-6….by this time Butch had only beaten SC and KY. By this time Tennessee had been beaten by 30 or more 3 times.

Heupel through 11 games in year 2 is 9-2
Beating Florida, Bama, and the west champs on the road LSU. Tennessee’s worst lost was last night (terrible loss) but by 25.

Your delusional if you think Heupel is only slightly better than Butch at this point.

Tennessee does need a new DC and some defensive overhaul. 2016 was Butch’s 4th year…….and Tennessee was 8-4 going into a bowl.

Not to mention when Heupel took over there was all the NCAA mess, and like 36 players transferred. Butch didn’t have to work through that. Sure it wasn’t roses but it wasn’t what Heupel went through.

Heupel did in year 1 what Butch did in year 2
Heupel might do in year 2 what Butch never could do……we will see.

Some ppl aren’t happy until everyone is as miserable as they are. What they fail to realize is if we were shown this record at the start of the year and told we would beat Alabama and Florida they would take it in a heartbeat.

This is the stupidest argument I've ever heard. That's like saying if we told you this bus will get you safely to your destination you would take it. Of course we would take a winning season and beating rivals. People are happy about that. It's the what should have been that pisses people off.
