This dumpster fire of a program

No reasonable fan would have expected wins at OR or at FL but hanging on for dear life against a team that just started their program when we started our downward spiral, in our own stadium should give any fan cause for concern.

I think there's plenty of cause for concern every which way you look.

Great teams sometimes play down to the level of competition, as do bad teams. And it wasn't a full 60 minute meltdown. There were some positives from today. (Ducks behind computer desk to avoid incoming objects).

I think the premise put forth by the OP is nuts. BUT, I think it really does look bad to see how many of our fans leave early. We had tons leave at halftime today. Should it be a huge determining factor in who wins, not really. But I think we all agree it can have an impact on our players and on any recruits present at the game or watching on tv.

It's all my fault

I take full blame

No, really, it's me.

I don't get why it should take 5 years; I agree our fanbase should have a little patience, but we also shouldn't really be challenged this heavily by USA. Both camps have points...

We really just miss winning and having fun for 3.5 hours every Saturday.

You serious bro? It will be 5 years until we should demand high expectations. Next year's schedule is just as hard. Trade going to UO this year to going to OU next. Plus we lose more starters next year. Essentially, this is Year Zero. This year should be about building the culture that Butch demands. We will be lucky to be a bowl team next year. It is just where we are youngblood.

I agree with that. The team could have used the confidence of a decisive win going into Georgia week. I can't help to think their confidence level dropped a bit today.

I just don't understand why people care when fans leave early. Recruits don't care that people have other things to do on a beautiful Saturday than watch what a game they believe to be well in control. They probably appreciate those who made the effort to show up.

The funny part most of the time those complaining about people leaving early are those watching from home. Just saying.

A dumpster fire has more sizzle than this program. We're more like a smouldering mattress laying in the gutter waiting to be used by lovestruck hobos.

Why? Because they let up after a big lead? There were a lot of positives today and you saw some young guys like Corey Vereen step up and make plays at the end.

If Tennessee were to end up in a dog fight with UGA late, the experience today could actually be beneficial late in the game. It just depends on how you look at it.

We as fans might as well face it as of right now we are a bottom tier program we are a non factor in the sec. But until we start getting better players we ate going to stay right where were at. We just don't have the athletes like we use to get to compete in the sec

We got guys enough to be good for 7 or 8 wins a season, assuming you don't schedule top I0 out of conference opponents. The problem is these guys haven't had consistency in their coaching and scheming.

Will never recover because the fans don't realize how far we have fallen.

It will take 3-5 years to play with the LSU's and the Georgia's.

This fan base is so ridiculous it almost drives me away. I don't have a clue how we recruit with all these negative posts on this board.

Go Vols and Go CBJ
Are you saying we have fallen so far that we shouldn't have beaten and played this USA team better? I think that is why fans are frustrated and concerned. I just don't suscribe to the theory that we are on the same talent and depth level as USA.

Is calling our program a dumpster fire a good thing? I don't understand.

Does anyone really think recruits either:

a) read message boards, or
b) make decisions based on college football fans, which are well known to be quite the fervent bunch, maybe to a fault?

I generally would wager that they spend more time on their own FB and Twitter than on message boards of teams recruiting them, since that would be a lot of message boards. In their other free time, they're probably practicing for the season, trying to pass classes, and talking to coaches. IF they do come on a message board, I'm sure they know college football fan are crazy (I know I am ridiculous; a loss can literally ruin my day), and take everything with a grain of salt.
