Their defense stinks. This is a silly take. You should be more worried about spying Milroe with Pilli out. Offense will get on track this game. For the Vols to win the defense needs to score at least 2 TD's and dominate the game. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think our offense will be able to keep up.
Yep. LWS pointed out a bad call here or there especially holding could influence this game one way or the other. Our line has struggled so I’m sure they will be scrutinized by the officials.
Alabama stands alone as having Nick Saban for all of those years. Michigan and Ohio State have only won one title apiece in the Saban era. This seems to be an example that those schools like Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State etc. who have been able to pay players under the table the most $$ and been winning almost every game every year, are now losing games and teams like Vanderbilt and Missouri are suddenly winning games they almost lost every year. NIL is making a difference and I, for one, like it.
Honestly, it has an old school feel to it. Nobody knows what to expect. It could be 2005 6-3 type of game or it could be a 2022 type of game, or for the old heads a 2003 OT thriller type of game. The Vols are close to clicking, the one thing I think that does need to happen, it seemed like the play calling got aggressive once Florida scored that touchdown and we were down 10 points. Alabama is talented enough where they can not be spotted 10 points. Our defense is talented enough to where the same can be said about Tennessee. Here we are, already to the Third Saturday in October. This has to be one of the weirdest instances of this game in a long time.
On paper, Bama has the talent advantage like most instances of this rivalry in recent years. However, their last 2 games have really not been good football. SCAR played mistake ball and still hung with them until the end there in a position to win. Bama fans are certainly not happy right now.
Same situation for us. Our last two games have been pretty poor for the offense, but pretty good for our defense. We are 6 points from being 6-0, but nobody is really happy with how we have played recently.
The kicker here is that the winner this weekend gets to keep their CFP hopes alive, while the loser is basically out of it unless they win out in a big way.
Is either team going to figure it out and play complimentary football? Or will we see two zombie teams play 60 minutes of sicko football?
