This is asinine...

True. I know whether someone chooses to participate in arcane, silly rituals or not is none of my business. That point obviously eludes you.

I'm just trying to figure out what that has to do with criticism of Newton being racist.

Fyi, arcane means obscure. The pregame invocation in the south at football games is not obscure. Google thesauras and try again.

Jesus hates Cam Newton.

But Auburn is in the south where they say pregame prayers, so that can't be it.

(Nevermind the only place I can remember one being said is Neyland, and at this point it's just a PC speech to carry on tradition and not offend anyone all at once.)

That can't be true. Everyone in college football must have prayer. If UT's among a vast minority of schools doing it, that means the practice takes place in relative obscurity. That can't be the case.

Ticket doesn't say you have to stand for the Alma mater of the home team either, but respectful fans do. Not a shock that respect doesn't come into play with some of you.

Knuckleheads come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. This same publication was very critical of Jimmy Clausen when they evaluated him 2 years ago. Jury is still out on Clausen but the votes are starting to slowly come in on his ability.

I think what upsets people is that these evaluations get really personal. Focusing in on the character of the person and not just their on skill performance.

I don't see how the publication would stand to benefit by attacking someone unfairly. If black ball players had not been systematically kept from playing QB in college and the pros for so long this might not of bothered Warren Moon so much. But he lived first-hand how race and being a QB in the pros can be a hurdle. I would think that would make him much more sensitive to what can happen to a person trying to get their foot in the door at the position. I am sure he just wants to see Cam Newton to get a fair shot. With all the money involved, the NFL really climbs into these guys shorts, that is just a fact that is not going to change.

Would have loved to see what this publication had to say about Ryan Leaf prior to him being drafted.

Rhetorical question. Lack of respect in any form is still the same.

I think we're all still interested in how that person knew he screwed up by not standing for the prayer.

You felt disrespected. He was not being disrespectful. Big difference there bro.

What's funny is this is being brought up in a thread where a guy feels people are being racist, when in reality they aren't. Oh the irony.

You weren't disrespected by him not standing up for the prayer. If he grabbed your wife's ass, or since he's from California, your ass, that would be disrespectful.

Stay in yo' lane.

That's a good post. I will say I didn't take it on the personal level. A lot of Cal fans sat thru the invocation and anthem that day. A lot of people, some cal fans but most UT fans in that section, didn't like the display and felt the guests weren't being respectful. Haven't seen that from a visiting school fanbase before. Ever.

I'd be stunned if Auburn didn't have some pre-game prayer, given all the God stuff Chizik talks about.
