This is asinine...

That's a good post. I will say I didn't take it on the personal level. A lot of Cal fans sat thru the invocation and anthem that day. A lot of people, some cal fans but most UT fans in that section, didn't like the display and felt the guests weren't being respectful. Haven't seen that from a visiting school fanbase before. Ever.
Maybe they had some physical impairment precluding them from standing. Or maybe what they do is their business, not yours. I'm guessing one of the two is about right. Or maybe both. Who knew.

There's always one thing I can count on when the race issue arises and that is a bunch of white guys will vehemently deny any particular case is an example of racism. I don't know the validity of Moon's comment, but I knew, as soon as he said it, he would be criticized for the "race card" and examples to find how he was wrong would be pursued. I also knew few would bother to actually examine if Moon was right.

It's really that simple.

What exactly do you mean by examining if he was right? What are you proposing?

...black guy here.

I'm not saying that the situation is without any shred of racism. People naturally have prejudices. But how could anyone actually prove there is racism involved when it comes to critiquing Newton?

IMO the biggest questions with Newton are his decision making (on and off the field) and whether or not he can transition to playing from under center.

If the wonderlic is a tool to be used, then he's already proven to be smarter than VY. Qb's with high first round grades are always critiqued to the enth degree.

If you think the questioning is unfair, remember all the heat the Dolphins took for the way they approached Dez Bryant about his mother, last year?

....seems like they saved themselves more than one headache by doing their due diligence.

I'm in Memphis too. Maybe we could get together sometime for a Grizzlies game and a cold brew.

That's all well and good, so Moon may be full of crap. I just knew that he would reflexively be criticized by people for throwing out the "race card" no matter the situation.

No on the first part. Maybe you're right and it's not my business. But tell me why you defend their right to not stand, yet tell me I don't have a right to have an opinion on how they acted, though you weren't there as they talked through the entire 2-3 minutes of the invocation and anthem.

Nobody said you don't have the right to your opinion. Some of us just think your take on the situation is dumb. There's a huge difference in those concepts.

Anybody playing the race card in this day and time should expect to get criticized simply for the act itself. Anything deemed unfair can be discussed on it's own merits without blaming race as the deciding factor. If you think throwing out the race card isn't going to get criticism and isn't anti inclusive then we will agree to disagree. Sports is usually the great equalizer for fans. Just saw a commercial during the Grizzlies game where all the players were saying "we believe in us".

True.

Sometimes it's justifiable, sometimes it's not.

I thought "none of your business" meant I didn't. You could have just said I was dumb and it would have saved some time.

My point was what they do is their business and what you do is your business. Never said you couldn't have an opinion of the issue. Just saying giving somebody some crap at the time, in the stadium because somebody doesn't agree with their politics is short sighted and possibly a trouble starter that could conceivably involve others who really couldn't give a rat's patoot.

All good, but you are racist for only wanting to hang with Crew because he is black.

:)

I have to add to my list of black friends to increase my board credibility. But I have admired his contributions in here for years. Besides, I've hung with other guys in here that wouldn't make the classification at all. :p
