It's not even worth arguing anymore. Some of you think Alabama went into the game giving it 110%. I don't. I'll agree to disagree.
Maybe it's because you're trying to argue that talent is everything while at the same time trying to discount an Alabama loss to a less talented team because of lack of motivation. You can't have it both ways chief. Talent can't be the only thing that matters if you're going to discount losses because they just didn't really care.
Talent isn't everything, I agree. Although, I'll take the better team, and the better coach the overwhelming majority of time in a game that actually means something. I'm just of the opinion that if Alabama and Utah had met the following week, Utah would never have seen a 21-0 lead that won them the game. Even Glen Coffee said UA didn't give Utah their respect coming into the game.
Alabama plays like Utah are the New England Patriots from the very beginning, if the end reward is the National Championship.
You should check into a reading comprehension class. If you interviewed individual players from Alabama before the game, they would say they didn't want to lose.
However, I really doubt Alabama players were crying in the locker room after losing to Utah. I seriously doubt it even bothered them. Certainly not to the degree that it would have any other game.
...and if you couldn't understand the comparison of the difference between the Sugar Bowl against Utah, and the National Championship vs Oklahoma. I can't help.
The rest of Bama's starting O-line and their one backup OL >> Utah's first string d-linemen
Look, XtennesseeX: We're both Vols fans, I love Donovan and the USMNT, and I really hope he returns to Everton. We're on the same team here.
If you want to question my reading comp skills, fair enough. Everything I posted in the comments you bolded were statements you made in previous posts.
Elisha Cuthbert's comment still stands. Star power, motivation, whatever. . . Alabama should have obliterated Utah the way that Florida did Cincinnati the next year.
I'm not saying Andre not being there was the reason Bama lost.
Just saying he cared so much about the game he took money from an agent and was ineligible.
This whole argument is sad though.
Tennessee shouldn't be compared to Utah ever.

Fact is, we aren't going to compete with Bama or Florida this year. 1) We need depth in a bad way, so you take the guarantees such as 3 stars(which aren't bad at all, in my opinion). 2) UT is on it's third coaching staff in three years. Recruits want to see if there is a little stability in place now before they pledge to the university.
Here's the difference between the 3* we have and when Saban recruits a 3*
At the moment, Saban's track record>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dooley's track record.
That may change. But still, when Saban gets a 3*, he has shown that he can take that talent and make them big-time. We don't know yet with Dooley.
Exactly. If Saban offers a 0* player, I'll be convinced he's found a diamond in the rough. Dooley hasn't shown anything to get the same benefit of the doubt yet.
