This is what happens when you stick with bad Qbs—Guarantano part 2

Play calling the second half was abysmal. Joe played his best half of football this year. I refuse to let you all pin this on him when our fearless leader absolutely **** the bed the second half. We played a great first half and then came out and refused to do anything that was working in the first half, so much so that I was worried Joe’s arm was hurt the way we decided to just not throw the ball. Hard lessons learned but I guess it isn’t possible to just come out for a whole second half and try to run the clock out. And you don’t get to be sassy in the press conference about the refs if you sit there not saying anything to them for 60 minutes looking like your dog got ran over.

Which open WRs did he miss?

It’s hard to tell. His accuracy isn’t great, but that isn’t his biggest problem.

His biggest problem is that he cannot read defenses and deliver the ball on time…ie, hitting his receivers right out of their break. He instead holds the ball until he can see obvious separation. It kills timing and puts incredible pressure on the O Line.

I’m not the president of Milton’s fan club at all, but why do we just assume pulling Milton and putting Nico in right now would be any different?
How many true freshmen are starting in the SEC as qb, anyone have a stat for that?
True freshmen are not ready for this league, I just don’t get it either.. why this board is ate up with stupid

If you can’t see Milton’s limitations, then you aren’t paying attention. Guy just cannot see the field in real time.
Forget it. Move on. It's not Milton’s fault, receivers fault, Heupel's fault, people can't see it in front of their face. They refuse to see we have a headcase at QB that is as hot and cold as a water faucet.. I will say it's definitely on Heupel for playing him this year. We knew what he was and we didn't have to watch him for 3 years to figure it out..

Fa-reel!!. 4th and 1 and you got your big a** QB IN SHOTGUN formation? 2X!!
If you were the opposing coach what would you do if he went under center on 4th and 1... I'm sure our guys just laid down for Bama to stop us. Some off you need to realize what's really going on, and stop comparing sec football to atari 2600 football.

These games take on a life of themselves...like LSU last year, we jumped on them and kept the heat on them. Give Bama credit, they adjusted and came out throttled us in second half. Momentum just can't be turned on and off. We came out in second half with cute conservative calls...and Bama came out with a big run and then missed assignment gash for TD... We had no identity on offense in second half and couldn't reestablish any sort of resemblance of first half Vols.

The playcalling contributed to that as much as anything..Why do a 180 and start calling runs up the middle into the teeth of the defense....It made no sense..

I will say tho Nico should have had way more gametime experience by now though. We haven’t taken care of business against the cupcakes to get him in

You still playing Atari 2600?!! POOF! POW! BE GONE!! A 240lb QB is closer to the 1st down under the center than in shotgun. Give your self a chance if you’re going to take a chance.

Joe's not gonna win you games. He's gonna play about even no matter the competition. He is what he is.

I'll ask everyone this, do we see Hendon if Joe stays healthy in 21? What happens in the 22 season? I don't think so, Heupel is dead set on starting Joe. Heupel has already proved he'll start the wrong QB.

He wouldn’t know who was open and who isn’t. He can’t read. He picks a receiver and stares at them from the snap, then panics if they aren’t open. We have a QB that can’t make a decision on the field.

“But he has all the intangibles and can throw 90 yards”. I know, I know. Save it.
