This is what happens when you stick with bad Qbs—Guarantano part 2

I like Heupel but this is just stupid. We knew Milton would cost us games like this. He knew it. We knew it. Everyone knew it. The inability to score even a point in the 2nd half is on QB1.

Real annoyed.
4th down decisions, redzone playcalling, and terrible officiating were the biggest factors.

Milton was not the reason we lost....give it up already

Milton didnt cost us the game. Heupels decision making and play calling did.
Milton had a very good start in the first quarter. However, his efficiency deteriorated as the game progressed. A number of other things also contribute to us not winning. I usually don't talk about the Alabama "players" who were wearing black and white stripes, but they had a profound influence on the out come of the game. Alabama was abetted by some questionable plays by our receivers, play calling and other player confusion. The Oline had a tough day blocking for run and pass plays, our outside LBs had some problems maintaining the edge and the DBs and , Safeties also had the problems in tackling and coverage. It turned out to be a games which we should have won but the game was lost because of a number of failures, many of which were not controlled by our coaches or players.

How can anyone blame this on JM when he led this team to a 20-7 halftime lead ? Milton didn't cost us the game as much as poor play calling and decisions to go for it on 4th and short on the wrong side of the field. I could even live with the call to go for it on 4th down but my god, come up with a play that offers a better chance of success than the same running up the middle that went no where all game long. The 2nd forth down wasn't even a 4th and short, but about 2 or 3 yards and we still try running it up the middle.

Dude this game isn’t on Milton. Some bad decisions, but definitely not his worst game. He competed and did what he could, but when your oline isn’t opening lanes and your WRs aren’t doing their routes or catching catchable balls, that’s not the QB.
What’s bad is this was one of his better games, yet it’s still pretty pedestrian for a Heupel QB in his system. He finally competed, which is good. But the red zone flaws are glaring. We need better QB play, someone with moxie in the pocket. One thing goes bad(like the strip sack) and he’s done for.

Every play is sent in with options. It's the quarterbacks job to read the defense and choose which option will be best. I don't think play calling is the issue. Either the O line isn't completing assignments or, the quarterback is choosing the wrong option. Or Thornton is still dropping passes

The playcalling contributed to that as much as anything..Why do a 180 and start calling runs up the middle into 7 man fronts..It made no sense..
Show us a 7 man front at anytime during the game where we ran up the middle? Prove to all of us how smart you are! Now we did try to go for it on 4th down to get one yd.

They were crowding the line. They weren't actually at the line til the ball was snapped.. They knew what we were running and had extra people is what I meant smart guy. They were not going to let us run right up the middle..

How many true freshmen are starting in the SEC as qb, anyone have a stat for that?
True freshmen are not ready for this league, I just don’t get it either.. why this board is ate up with stupid
Maybe Nico is ready, maybe not.

But that statement you made is IGNORANT. Many True or Rsfreshman have started in the SEC

It's amazing that Milton plays really well for us and people still come for him. He had a bad play on the strip sack, but that was really Campbell's fault. He could've been a little more accurate on the throw in the end zone to Warren. He also took that huge loss on our final drive but that didn't matter at that point. He was pretty great other than that. Used his legs effectively, which we need to continue to see. That was the most encouraging performance for him this year. We had some really bad play calls, and some untimely penalties in the second half that set us back. Plus we couldn't run the ball outside of him.

Dude, I'm that last poster on this board that ANYONE would call a Milton fan boy, but even I can't complain about his play yesterday. He laid it on the line and busted his ass. He's the one bright spot from yesterdays embarrassment. While not perfect...not even close...he was far from a "bad" QB and not the reason we lost. This team thought the game was over at halftime. They failed to consider that bama might find some pride and be pissed coming out in the second half. Had we even put up a smidgen of fight, we might have stolen that game. I think bama came out on fire, the team was feeling picked on by the officials and it got into their heads. They started feeling sorry for themselves and it snowballed. Heck, it even got into Heupels head leading to some really questionable decisions. I think he knew it was slipping away and he threw caution to the wind to try and turn things around. I saw a lot of guys in white especially on the defense that had some really bad body language. Milton was NOT the problem yesterday. Frankly, he was the main reason the first half was what it was.

Heupel called a very conservative 2nd half and stopped being aggressive.

Milton hit his WRs, ran the ball very well against Bama.

Heupel completely stopped it for whatever reason.

Milton, missed key throws both times they were in the red zone in the first quarter

Milton is Jamarcus Russell 2.0, freak athlete but doesn’t have it upstairs.

He honestly seems like a nice guy, but they’re a lot of nice guys without the talent to play quarterback in the SEC

Heupel and company got their collective @$$es handed to them in the second half by Saban. Their guys adjusted. Ours went into a shell for some reason. That was the deciding factor IMO

Throw in some mind boggling officiating and Milton was a non factor in the 2nd half other than the fumble that could happen to any QB.

Milton isn't capable of going out and winning a game on his own but he isn't the reason they got outscored 27-0 yesterday.

Not at all. We have a trend of playing exactly one half of football on the road this year.. Not good enough to beat good or even decent football teams. Tennessee doesn't have the talent right now to just show up and win..
