This Missouri Game is one of the most important we’ve ever had…

Missouri and SC are trap games, UT cannot let off the gas.

That’s my point. I hate to say it but Tennessee has had almost a mental jinx for as long as I can remember. We have found inventive ways to let us down across all sports.

I finally feel like that’s behind us. That’s why this game is so incredibly important. Many here apparently do not comprehend time scale and they really only see the obvious right in front of them.

How we respond in THIS game determines the rest of this season which in turn determines our future as a program. I think we will respond well. It’s up to the men on the team and the coaching staff to overcome. This is what makes sports amazing and applicable to life.

55-13. No one will remember this game except the little Vols visiting Neyland for their first experience coming to a game with their dad and granddad, seeing the T, and the crowd, and eating a hot dog and cotton candy. All will be right again in Volnation for a beautiful Fall Saturday in Knoxville.

The Missouri game is a pretty important barometer. They've lost four conference games by 3, 4, 7 and 4, and are 13th in the nation in total defense, allowing just over 300 yard a game. This isn't a bad team that just plans on coming in to lay down and die. They've slowed down everyone they've played. Georgia is the only conference opponent they've played where they failed to knock around 100 yard or more off their opponent's average offensive output.

Should we win? Absolutely. But if their record is any indicator, we'll have to work. Exactly as it should be on a Saturday in the SEC. Glad to be at home again, but not loving the noon kick. Would much rather have had a raucous evening crowd for a rebound game.

Exactly this. This schedule has been almost perfect for us. Having this game at the tail end of the Schedule is perfect for us. It’s going to test the grit of this team.

People here just don’t understand the mental aspect of sport. Georgia responded when they lost to Bama in the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP game. I remember this entire board riding saban’s knob about being the greatest—how Georgia will always be in the middle echelon of SEC football schools—and well, we saw how they responded.

I’m seeing a whole lot of people here forgetting what we did in every other game this season. And it’s bizarre to me. We have an outstanding team. We were ranked #1 for a reason. I think we respond and I seriously think we will face Georgia in the NCG and win. I think this is our redemption arc as a program after everything we’ve gone through. I won’t miss a playoff game if we make it. I’ll be at both irrespective of cost.

Not saying they overlook them, but they cannot sleepwalk, Missouri will try to mimic what Georgia did

Missouri doesn’t have the talent to slow down our offense.

Georgia has elite defensive players who’ll be playing on Sunday’s.

I just hope we don't focus so much on having to beat them by 40 that we don't execute like we can. When teams press, it leads to stress. One of Heupel's strengths is having his teams play loose (except for Saturday). We need to see the relaxed team we have seen in the prior 20 games.

Sounds like you want to ask Georgia players on a date. Stop.

did you miss the game where Missouri almost beat your beloved?

You misinterpreted my post.

I’m saying Georgia is the best defense we’ll see all year.

Doesn’t mean our offense is bad and Missouri is not good enough to slow down our offense.

Missouri does have the #13 ranked defense in the country, they are quite pesky

Precisely. They’re going to be a great test for us. They’ve played everyone tough. I love that it’s at home. It’s going to give us a nice little reboot opportunity. I do think we absolutely crush them, but I’ve seen the Vols fold before. As we all have.

That’s why this game is important- are we going to continue to regress back to the Vols of Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt—or are we going forward? I am very confident it’s the latter but I’ve been through enough as a Tennessee alum to not discount that the former is possible.

I think LSU and Bama are just as good as Georgia defensively. Georgia played the game of their lives against us. I saw Kent State move the ball on them. As did Missouri.

We did not execute. We turtled up. And they got blood lust and just went complete non-stop haymaker. That doesn’t happen again. Especially in the national championship. I think we seriously going to work them once we start executing our offense. I know it sounds ridiculous but their offense wasn’t impressive. Their defense got all the momentum and I do not think Heupel will not scheme around this blitz heavy attack. There are so many ways to make teams pay that play defense like that.

They’re not as bad as you’re suggesting. I think we should wax them. But then again I don’t know how long you’ve been a Vol fan…
They just lost to UK at home. They have little to no offense. We cover the spread

Kentucky would legit prob finish 3rd in the big ten. Possibly 2nd. And theyd probably win the ACC.

Kentucky is actually good but playing against the best competition in football. What we do in this conference is insane.

I grew up being a big ten fan. The level thjs conference is playing is unreal.

Every coach of the west is solid.

Saban
Kiffin
Leach
Kelly
hell even Harsin was a good coach with a. Solid resume. Didn’t work.

It’s incredible.

Four plays. That's the difference in the outcome of the game. (1)The punt that pinned us at the 1 yard line, then false start, nearly got tackled for a safety. (2)If Banks comes down with the ball instead of dropping it, Georgia drive is stopped. (3)The overthrow to McCoy that would have been a sure touchdown. (4)The overthrow to Tillman or Hyatt, don't remember which it was. Another touchdown if not overthrown. Yes, I know there are a lot more big plays, but those four stand out to me the most.

On another note, Hooker needs to realize when a play gets blown up and he has to scramble, once outside the tackle box, heave that ball out of bounds. It's easier to start the next play at the previous spot, than it is to have 7-8 or more yards tacked on. Again, roll hooker out to escape the pressure.
