On The Sports Source program today, Jimmy Hyams said that he thinks that Serrano needs to make the NCAA Tournament to get a new contract.

Good weekend but I still think this team is fighting just to get to Hoover. Team is still very young and the pitching staff is fragile and very thin.

Expecting a bigger growth of improvement wasn't reality with such a young roster. Should have made the change a year ago if an improvement of 2 SEC games and 2-4 more overall wins isn't good enough this year.

I was fully on board with a move after last season or even 2 years ago, quite frankly. I'm not disagreeing with your point but just more disgusted at the fact that we now have to accept 11 win conference seasons as improvement.

I missed it, what did KS do that was so selfish to get himself suspended this past weekend?

It was a great weekend but I feel like we also need a reality check. We sit at 3-9 with road series left @ A&M, @ Vanderbilt, and @ Kentucky. I think a reasonable (yet positive expectation) would be to try to split those 9 games at 5-4 or 4-5. That leaves us with 13 or 14 SEC losses.

That leaves us very little wiggle room at home against Auburn, Mizzou, and Arkansas. If we win all 3 series by a 2-1 margin, that's 6-3 and puts us at 16 or 17 conference losses heading to Hoover.

We have a lot of work to do and have to be really, really good the rest of the way just to claw back into tournament discussion.

This is why you can't get swept in the first two series of conference play. Even going 2-4 would have been huge wins against top 35 RPI teams.

What does that tell the other players on the team.

I don't know how truant he was but missing an entire weekend SEC rivalry series, for missing class, sure seems appropriate enough to me.

How long do you think he should sit?

This.

Plus...I think CDS has done what he is supposed to do...the question isn't what do CDS's actions say to the team...the real question is what do Kyle's "choices" say to his father and his team mates?

I can't think of a tougher position to put CDS in then what Kyle did here. If he was a freshman I might not judge it so harshly. If he didn't know what a one year contract means, maybe the boys will be boys defense would be okay.

He knows this is his last go around and he should know it might be his dad's too...that ain't cool.

But, I'm with Bruin...move on.

Kyle was suspended last week so let's let him start tomorrow. 😤😤😤😤

Is it that you think he should be suspended more games or you don't think he should start?

He's going to throw two innings max anyway.

Question about the Auburn series....... How come it is not a four game series instead of three? Do SEC teams play any four game conference series during the regular season?

Thanks for any information.

You can question a lot about Dave Serrano, or any coach for that matter, but you cannot question his discipline and ethics. Suspending one of your better pitchers...who happens to be your son!... for missing a class with the season and possibly your career on the line, is a big deal! I am not sure too many coaches would have done that. We also saw it last summer when he booted off his number one recruit, Duncan Pence, for discipline issues. I would want my son to play for a man like him.

One series is plenty.
