Thor...... It's Hammer time.

Over the years, I have amassed quite a few Thor comics. Yep, back in 1965 for a young lad of 10 to gather up 12 cents to buy a comic was an almost unsurmountable task. So the guys I grew up with would buy different books. I bought Thor, another guy bought Spider Man, another Fantastic Four, etc. and we would each take turns reading other's books on the school bus or where ever we got a chance.

I never collected comics, I just bought them, read them and just left them lying around. Amazing that I have any left over the years, but I've got several big plastic bins full of them

I can tell you this about the movie. While I enjoyed the movie, the Destroyer was definitely underpowered. As was Thor. Both are bad mammy-jammers in the comics.

Here are a few pictures of some of my old 'Thor comics. I was especially fond of Jack Kirby and Walt Simenson's work.

Nice collection.

I wish I had as many Mavel ( I do Have Some Thors) in my own collection as I do DC. I was 6 in 65'. I was wearing the old plastic batman and superman Capes and stuff that came in the small plastic bags for 49 cents or so. I saw one sell recently for 3500.oo Dollars. Which I still had a few. I have a lot of stuff from the 50's up. DC, Disney, All the Archies, Hop a long Cassidy, Raw Hide and Jonah Hex. Even today If i get in the mood I will By #1's along the way especially the Gold and Platinum Editions of them.

This is one of the bigger complaints I've always had with the "heavy hitter" comic characters; fluctuating power levels. It's an understandable issue with story lines that once you've had Hulk/Thor/Superman/whoever basically tear a planet apart (most likely after getting beat up enough to get, you know, good-and-pissed) it's tough to find a way to keep them from getting boring unless they're faced with some kind of nigh cosmically powered entity. It's sorta like how many times are you going to have Batman get knocked out and taken prisoner without someone taking off his mask and revealing a world-reknowned billionaire.

I never really cared for DC comics when I "comic book reading" age. I guess I had my reasons back then, but now I can't seem to recall them now.

I have most Thor comics between 200 and 500, and the few you see in the picture of the 100's. And I probably bought most all of them.

I have several Spiderman, Hulk, Avengers, FF, and other Marvel comics, but hardly any of them were published before 1970 - back in the old days.

In Supes' case, I think this was behind the orgin of kryptonite. He was just too "Super". Of course, you can't worry about these details when you are enjoying the story.
