Thoughts Entering NCAAT

Last three games have been concerning. The win at USCjr was not Barnes like. They shot 40 3s. I really miss the half court game. I just don't see it working when you have so many struggling. You can't share the ball with someone who can't throw it in the ocean standing on the beach. If we can get average DK and Aidoo. If ZZ can pass first and facilitate the offense and just a quarter of production from Santi and James, Tennessee will be rolling. I'm not concerned with the bench or the defense. This team is built to do damage in March. We just need two of the starters to contribute. I don't think Purdue survives their second game and feel like our toughest game getting to the final four is on our side of the bracket

The bad losses seem to get this team right, two back to back is concerning but I think they will bounce back. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about them overlooking game one. Not a huge name but they are good enough to beat Tennessee if we do not play well, just like anybody is this time of the year. I think unless some wild upsets happen though, after this game it would be a game they wouldn't be tempted to even overlook. JMO

The UK game proved that isnt a given unfortunately
Actually, had there been any production coming of the bench, like there usually is, even if its just 14 points total from certain guys, Tennessee wins that game. That was also part of that. Tennessee can win this tournament if Dalton Knecht can take over games and get the help he has most of the year from the role players.

We HAVE to get scoring out of Aidoo and AT LEAST one, if not two of Ziggy, JJJ, Vescovi, Mashack/Gaines.

When we don't get 12+ out of Aidoo, we court trouble.

St Peter's is going to dog Knecht and make everyone else beat us. That's the obvious strategy that opponents will use (and
the opponents of our women's team will do the. same--dog Jackson and force the supporting case to score enough to win).

The other thing is we have to get back to playing hard-nosed defense. It feels like we fell off defensively late, though we were playing
some good SEC teams who can score.

As much as people including some of our own fans love to dump on Barnes and his tournament record, he’s never failed to get to at least the second weekend as a 1 or 2 seed.

He still wins about half of his NCAAT games which translates to around an average finish behind 16-31 other teams. That’s a bit higher than were TN falls in the all-time pecking order of NCAA D-1 basketball programs.

Right. But the statement was, the team goes as DK goes. Which isn't true. We've lost games where he scored 30 or 40. And we won games where he didn't. He had a pretty average game at Rupp yet we won the game. The more accurate statement is the team is gonna go as guys like JJJ, Vescovi and Aidoo go. ZZ has been pretty steady so i dont include him, we're gonna get a solid game from him every night. But if we get no help from those other 3, DK can score 40 and we will still lose.

JJJ and Vescovi have to get at least 15-20 points between them. ZZ has to help DK out on scoring. Mashack needs more minutes, Aidoo and Awaka have to put their Big boy pants on.

Any team could beat UT right now however, same could be said of entire cast of suspects in the SEC.

If kids get pissed (for last two games and losing #1 seed) and play w some fahr in their bellies, their talent is easily enough to make it to the Sweet 16 and Final 8. After that, it's all just luck
Not so sure. Auburn looks like it's primed and ready for a deep run. Talented and deep. I think they'll end up going the furthest of the SEC teams. Don't think they can take UConn, but I'd bet they put a scare into them.
