Thoughts on Johnny Majors Coments

Well I'll be. I knew I liked him.

You know, I would LOVE to know what coaches or assistant coaches at other Universities or NFL, or even MLB and NBA, used to coach or play at Tennessee. We have some pretty big names out there......

Jon Gruden
Phil Garner
Kevin O'Neil Just to name a few.

Johnny always did bring in good coaches. lacewell was the best
D man in the business would have loved to see him stay dallas just
offered him a deal he could not refuse and he is still there
and word is he gave a few pointers this last cotton bowl ??
just what i heard ???

P.S I know he did not coach defence at dallas but i never seen
a coach turn around a defence like he did at tennessee

no bend but dont break here, they stuck it to them right form the
first play 3 AND OUT!!!!!!!!!!! he just wasnt here long enough for
alot of folks to remember him.

Phil has done alot for our program but i dont think helping coach
majors was on his agenda. we had some great football teams with
far less tallent than we have now. i dont know but it dosnt seam the
same any more. i mean just some kind of gut feeling.

Is Kippy Brown still coaching? I looked for info on him last night and couldn't find anything. He was a great receivers coach.

Before people put Myers too high on a pedestal, we need to remember that he has only been a head coach for four years (two at Bowling Green and two at Utah) and never at a level like the SEC.

He did go 12-0 last year but in a conference that only had three teams (including Utah) that were over .500. If he follows his past record he will only be there for two years before he moves on. Sort of reminds me of the TAMU coach and he certainly didn't blow the Vols out in the Cotton Bowl. :dlol: :dlol: :dlol:

My Johnny Ball moment was the 1990 Alabama game.  The week before we had worn out Florida and Steve Spurrier 45-3.  We went out against a 3 loss Alabama team and managed 175 yards of total offense and scored 6 points.  We lost in the last minute when our 50 yard FG attempt to win the game was blocked and squirted 30 yards backwards across the old astroturf - setting up a 50 yard Bammer FG to win 9-6. :yuck:

Easily the worst I have ever felt walking out of Neyland Stadium.

You were fortunate to have missed the 1958 loss to UT-Chattanooga 14 - 6. :shakehead:
