Thoughts on why Nico didn’t get reps in mop up duty?

OK, I will bite. Speculation:

We have seen it with the complete blowouts, but this one was a two score game up until less than 3 minutes left in the game. So, he probably just wanted to keep his guy in there and end the game. If he puts Nico in for a couple of hand offs, it doesn’t mean much. If he puts him in there and lets Nico rip, and we score, we are running up the score.

I think something has to be there with either protecting Nico or not having much of a belief that a few handoffs and a pass here or there is going to play much into his development as well. Possibly the latter? Seems like we were looking for more of Milton last year too.

I am getting annoyed by it as well but not for the reason most people are cheering for it. I am worried that we will get Milton or other starters hurt if we play them a lot with a lead. (Granted same would be situation if it isn't a blow-out). You bench the starters to also give them a chance to rest and avoid injuries.

This is where I’m at as well. Milton is wearing a knee brace for a reason. He isn’t 100%. And it look like his knee gave out on him a little bit when he stumbled on the roll out. I just feel like the game was already in hand so why risk further injury? I trust Heupel so there must be a good reason, and I’m beginning to think maybe Nico hasn’t earned the coaches trust even in a situation where we’re up 3 scores with 3 minutes left
