I hope this class works out and I trust the staffs ability to evaluate players (until they prove otherwise to me)....however I just can't find myself very excited because it seems nearly the majority of some of our classes in the past were 4* recruits with a few 3* and a couple 5*. I'm not going to complain like some have been until I at least see the final recruiting rankings, and moreover until I see these players actually on the field a few years. Although it was pretty bad getting all those 4 and 5 star recruits a few years back and being dissappointed with most of them....

.

Charles Burks a 3 star from Huntington Beach CA. His offers were: Army, Boise State, Duke, Northern Arizona, San Diego State and SMU. USCjr (East) has 2 4 star players committed and obviously they are having a good year. It's real premature now to judge how this class is going to end up IMO. :)

Ask Florida, USC, and Texas how all those 5* players are doing about now.....with all those 5/4* kids they're a 20+ ranked team thanks to all of them....not playing close to the potential of those * rankings. All the *'s in the world don't matter if their football I.Q. and coaches can't put it all together without player development as well as a great game plan/execution of said game plan by the kids on the field.

We were the same under Fulmer.....so much N.F.L. talent more so than 95% of the teams we played yet our staff got whipped in the game planning against alot of the teams we lossed to under his reign. Soon this pic of Fulmer will have some of the big wig head coaches faces on it as well. Starting with UGA's main man.

Complain or don't!!! Fulmers problem was developing players not recruiting them. Kiffin's problem wasn't recruiting them or coaching them it was all charactor based (3 4*'s and 1 5* gone from his only class) CDD and his staff are recruiting to their needs with high character kids that they evaluate as worthy. Remember Tenn is a tough sale right now. The top kids this staff are in on won't decide until closer to NSD. Final recruiting rankings are beauty contests, wait a couple of years and see if these young players we have develop into the type of team that brings the 5* quality kids and not just attitude, grade lacking 5* that bring bad karma!! GO VOLS AND CDD!! By the way on of the lowly 3* recruits broke the South Carolina TD record last night,go figure!

It's fine to play the 'character card' until the team gets into a bar brawl. Then you need to move on as it sounds very stupid at that point.

Hint: The bar brawl already happened.

Dallas, Kerbyson, Coleman are all 5.7 3* players according to Rivals. They should pick up a 4th star by NSD.

3 4*'s is nothing compared to our main rivals. Stars don't mean much anyway..

please get off this stars crap. I'm sure i could get my kid to be a 4 or 5 star player if i donated enough money to rivals favorite charity.

You can also ask Alabama, Ohio St, and LSU how good recruiting classes with 5*s are working out for them.

doesn't really apply, but thank you for your support of your professed college football team, still haven't tried the kool-aid yet?

The idea that your recruiting rankings doesn't matter is nuts. If you consistently get low ranked classes you wont win the SEC.

whenever it comes to recruiting stars, i remind myself that those are assigned by the beano cooks and herbstriets of the world, not coaches. however, even an idiot like cook couldn't overlook a peyton manning or hershcel walker. either a coach has a feel for who is an athlete or he doesn't. that's how teams like boise state, t.c.u., and utah shoot up in the rankings from time to time, b-slapping the bama's and sooners with all their cadres of five star can't misses.

i hope d.d. has that touch. over the last ten years, phil had lost his. sometimes, i wonder if he got lazy about recruiting, leaving it to go after the latest headliners in the recruiting rags, instead of honestly evaluating potential.

Yeah, but were those Dooley's recruits in that brawl (I don't know)? I think we will see less and less of those types of incidents with character recruits. Question remains though, will we see more wins?

UF, USC and Texas were doing great with their 4 and 5 star players. They're just having a down year. USC will be down for a while with their probation.
