Three 4* recruits

He was in the same war room every week. He wasn't forced to put in ear plugs any time something other than tight ends were being discussed.

So, that means he's going to be a good/great HC and recruiter at UT? B/c he sat in on Saban's team/coach's meetings? Sorry, but three 4* recruits is not going to get it done. It's a long way to NSD, but this class is going to need to change significantly to start the rebuilding process to compete with the top SEC teams.

Guys, we as a fan base are just gonna have to realize that the "elite" 4* and 5* guys are not going to commit early to a school that has been "down" for most of their lives and has been the most unstable program in the country the past 3 years. Look at our current roster. Honestly, without the orange sunglasses. Our talent and depth is the lowest it has been in over TWENTY YEARS. We dont have backups that can play in the SEC. We used to have (just as UF, UA LSU, OSU etc have now) backups that could start for 75% of the teams in college football. This class HAS to provide that depth. We cant afford to pursue a bunch of high 4 and 5* guys and miss this year at positions of need. This class is going to be the foundation for Dooleys system moving forward. Things WILL get better. Nebraska and FSU went through similar talent dips without THREE coaching regime changes in 3 years like we have suffered and they getting back to their elite status. Our program will be fine. We MUST be patient as a fan base and not get so doom and gloom cause we are used to winning in the past. That leads to more Bama fans in Neyland than UT fans like a few years ago and that cant happen again. Sorry this is so long......had to get it off my chest.

I do not know your background, but this post makes you sound like you know more than someone who spent years in the aforementioned meetings.

Fair enough. I agree over time more elite guys will need to be gotten, but for the situation the team is in I feel fine with the current status.

EXACTLY! If in 2-3 years we havent improved on the field and our classes are still full of 3* guys, then the fans have a right to complain. Until then blasting a coaching for their recruiting efforts when they havent even been here a calendar year yet seems ridiculous to me. I have no idea if CDD will get us "back" but I am at least giving him a chance.

Just because Dooley knows what to look for does not mean major recruits will sign up to play for TN.

Of course not. You also cant say major recruits WONT sign in the future as they start to see the program build back up (if it indeed does). We are never gonna dominate like we did in the 90's again. The SEC is a much different world now.

I'm glad Bama, UF, and LSU are still falling for these 4* and 5* tricks, but that our staff is too smart to be fooled the way Saban, Meyer, and Miles are.

I'm not blasting him, but this class has to improve. Great recruiters are able to overcome "bad situations." We can't afford a few mediocre classes. We're playing catchup right now to 3-4 teams that are consistently pulling in top 10 classes.

So you've thrown in the towel? You need to read this weeks "Guitar Shots to the Head".

The SEC will be a much different world at the end of the 2010's as well. Teams could receive violations, make bad coaching hires, miss on recruits, coaches become stagnant, quality coaches leave for who knows what reason, etc.......

I really feel that the little dipper may be a little better even though he may not have as many stars, but the big dipper with more stars could turn out to be a stud. But when you throw in the Milky Way, and we know how much talent he has, it takes this whole star system to a whole different level. Well, to be honest I just don't know. Could it be that one more star that puts the big dipper over the top? All we can do is wait and hope that all three commit and combine to make an awesome team!! Thank You Very Much!!

Complain or don't!!! Fulmers problem was developing players not recruiting them. Kiffin's problem wasn't recruiting them or coaching them it was all charactor based (3 4*'s and 1 5* gone from his only class) CDD and his staff are recruiting to their needs with high character kids that they evaluate as worthy. Remember Tenn is a tough sale right now. The top kids this staff are in on won't decide until closer to NSD. Final recruiting rankings are beauty contests, wait a couple of years and see if these young players we have develop into the type of team that brings the 5* quality kids and not just attitude, grade lacking 5* that bring bad karma!! GO VOLS AND CDD!! By the way on of the lowly 3* recruits broke the South Carolina TD record last night,go figure!

Complain or don't? All I was saying is I have been more excited in the past seeing the highly touted recruits come in on signing day. However, I was very dissappointed with the way they were "developed" and most didn't pan out. Dooley could very well coach these guys up or could have found multiple guys who are diamonds in the rough and underrated by rivals.

I am excited to have Dooley and fully support him, my only point was I have been more excited in the past before I saw the players on the field. I'm not complaining about anything Dooley has done especially. I think this staff can evaluate and probably coach guys up better than Fulmer and co. I'm sure. Just saying it is going to take a little longer for me to get excited than in recent past.....No need to pick a side
