Probably not where @joevol33 was, but here is part of the Navajo Nation agricultural lands in northern NM. High desert, 6,000’+. Aerial sprinkler watering from a central pivot.

Worst possible form of irrigation in arid lands, but it’s what they’re doing for now.

What makes pivot irrigation such a bad approach?
From my memory of living in arid drought prone areas, water evaporation and draining the aquifer. The ground in some areas of CA’s central coast would actually begin to cave because of using too much water from the aquifers and them not being able to refill.
