You thought right, there is a Memphis, Mississippi. It is about 2 maybe 3 miles south of the MS./TN. State line. I pass it on my way to Tunica.
HWY 61, right after the business's with all the windows/doors encased in steel.

Tigers do what no other school has done the last 4 years, not lose to a team that has NO business beating you.

Get your head out of your arse. Memphis St. had NO business losing to UT on their home court last season. That's what made watching JP Prince stick the dagger in your hearts that much sweeter. Now, go away.

and frankly, KU had no business beating you either.

You play in a Juco conference. The rigorous schedule (albeit the conference is down this year) that the Vols play game in and game out set them up for upsets like that. It happens.

Maybe you guys should change conferences so that you will get more of a challenge...I hear the SOCON is wanting to expand, that would be a step up for you guys.

I'll give credit were credit is due. Memphis is 11-3 in the last 3 NCAA tournaments, hard to argue with that. If they play in the TSSAA middle school conference and still post a NCAA record like that, its still impressive.

That being said, I agree with another poster. Whats the purpose of this thread being in the Vol basketball forum? I pull for Memphis when they don't play UT, but I don't see a point in gloating over a Gonzaga win.

Can someone please move this thread to the NCAA forum so I don't confuse it with something that I give a crap about???

If you'd pull your head from Calipari's ass, you'd probably see that most basketball people here readily admit what you're saying.

Your being a complete peckerhead about it does nothing to help your cause.

Finally, FYI, even Vandy has a historically better program than UT, so you're in some strong company.

Historically, Tennessee has the 3rd most wins in the SEC behind Kentucky and Alabama.

doesn't change our results in the tourney, which are the results that matter.

History has changed so much that until the 1950s, the NIT was considered a better tournament than the NCAA. Sometimes the NCAA Champion competed in both tournaments but lost in the NIT. Until 1975, only one school from each conference could participate in the tournament. The tournament did not expand to 64 teams until 1985. The fact that Tennessee had 8 NCAA tournament appearances prior to 1985 was a big deal, because just getting there was difficult. Unfortunately, the Vols basketball fortunes fell in the late 80s and early 90s, which coincides with the expansion of the NCAA tournament. If we were discussing recent history, there is no doubt that other SEC teams have had far greater success in the NCAA tournament. However, if you include the entire history of each program, Tennessee is still near the top of the SEC.

All you Vol fans need to recognize that Memphis is the premiere BB team in TN. If you have state pride get the Eye of the Tiger and pull for Memphis in March Madness. A whole lot more fun than the NIT.

who said Memphis is considered part of Tennessee?
