Tim Banks defense...

I think most of us expected or hoped at least the defense this year would be better than last year, what we didn’t expect is how much our offense would change

Running game is super strong (improved)
Passing game is way below last year (surprised at how much honestly)

Let’s see how the defense plays at Bama, Kentucky, and Mizzou.

Playing defense at Neyland’s Stadium in front of the partisan crowd is much easier than a hostile crowd on the road.

Defense hasn’t been very good in front of hostile crowds at Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

Wow. Still just amazed to see so many critical of this win. I’m not ready to eat crow after this game but I can say it’s possible I was wrong. Really want to see a good road performance to make me feel like an idiot about this secondary. Not sure how anyone that has watched the last two games can’t say this secondary is performing significantly better.

At home right now this is one of the better defenses in the conference right now.

2 interceptions excellent tackling gives up 13 points. Just what the heck you want
223 yards passing on only 54 yards rushing, the guy was less than 50% accurate, only going 16/34. Many of the completions that were made were well defended. The only TD that was scored was on our LB. DBs get a B+ if not an A.

Do you honestly believe our defense had anything to do with how horrible A&M offense is??
Are you going to say the same thing after we beat Bama? Our defense is much better after being rebuilt from our last coaching disaster. Our front seven seem to be as good as anybody in the SEC.

I think the DBs have had back to back good games. In this one though, anytime you can hold a QB under 50% passing and have two interceptions, that means you had a good day. They had to through the ball a lot because they couldn't really run it consistently. That is going to lead to at least some yards being given up. They only had a couple bad plays. One on that completion on 3rd and 17. And I guess that TE screen in the 3rd quarter that picked up like 30 yards. Either way, very solid. Teams are always going to complete passes, and they made at least a couple really good plays that had really good defense.

More numbers for the "our dbs sre the worst" crowd: 2nd in the conference (behind Georgia) in 20+ yard pass completions allowed and 30+ yard pass completions allowed.

Absolutely. I’ve seen enough from banks. This game doesn’t change the whole picture. With that being said martinez is the weakest link on the defense he should’ve been fired last year
The one thing you've said that I agree with, since "the whole picture" is that we've been playing really good defense, and this game was just another instance of that.

Never be unkind to the people upstairs who feed you and change the newspaper in your cage. You won’t make it without them.
