Tim Banks

Chip Kelly killed us by running Smith around all night to get him matched up on linebackers and Brooks.

It worked to perfection for three reasons:

1. He is a phenomenal talent - he is a bigger and more physical version of Ryan Williams - he is the best WR in college football.

2. Banks decided in his first HUGE mistake to not double him. This was insanely stupid. All other teams lately doubled him.

3. Banks decided to play zone / off their WRs by 10 and sometimes 15 yards . . . And he did not have say . . . McCoy track Smith no matter what. We got torched - again and again. He never adjusted. At all. If Smith ran to the left of line and that put Telander on him . . . We just rolled with that.

Talent wise - We had no replacement for Pili.
Me and my brother looking at each, why the f are giving 10 to 15 yds cushion. It was awful to watch.

You lost me at saying Garner is “somewhat above average.” He’s among the best in the business. I pretty much agree with the Banks assessment.

He is very good coach but I don't go as far as someone characterizing him as great.
UT defense was primarily overrated due to the competition. Against the better teams we did
not have great stats as far as TFL, sacks, etc. We are also having dl going into portal, which is
strange if they think they have a better chance at getting to the next level. We are losing several
dl this year which should open the door for more pt for some, yet we still have them going to the portal.

Tim Banks for the entire time he's been here has never made in game adjustments and it drives me nuts. The Ohio state game and UGA were perfect examples of that. How do you come out of halftime and continue to call the same plays and expect anything to change. Telander should no be covering a WR, the flats were continuously ignored, and only rushing 4 was ineffective.

When has the talent, he is a very good coach. When you don't have very good talent at every position, no one is a very good coach. He does not yet have enough talent at LB and Safety to compete for the National championship
I know. Maybe 5-6 more recruiting cycles, and 2-3 extensions and raises until then. God knows we can’t let his defensive genius get away from us

I put a lot more of the responsibility for our 3 losses this year on the lack of production of the offense. We play well on offense against the the lower end of the SEC and most of the non SEC teams. We were simply out classed by OSU on both sides of the ball. We lost to Georgia because we do not have comparable talent at LB and Safety. You don’t win the big races if you don’t have competitive horses.

walk-on safety getting cooked. 30 yard TD run. I'll be back after lunch to continue my evaluation of why our defense sucked.

To be fair, if this was the cut back on the counter play, it was really a horrible play by A Carter. He went over the top when Telander had set it inside. If he just plays inside out like he is supposed to then that is a two yard gain.
