Tebow's pre-Wonderlic prayer request falls flat | ProFootballTalk.com

im glad someone has said this, its getting annoying everytime he says it.
Say what you will but Tim Tebow is legit man, as much as I dislike him as a player(only for whooping us every year) I can see he honestly means what he says and he is using his celebrity status to further the truth of God. He is not just doing this so everyone thinks he is little mr. perfect. He truly believes and is convicted by this and because of that I respect him and share his beliefs and convictions. If that person didnt want to pray before the test all that was need was to walk away, simply walk away. Telling Tebow to "Shut the f--k up" was classes. With Tebow getting this kind of rap he will probably become one of my favorite players(even tho getting past his college years probably wont be easy for me).

No, unlike some Eric Berry actually has class.

no sir,its annoying that he has to say it everytime.Yea its great if he says it once in awhile and not in every sentence in every conversation,im glad someone finally said something, theres a difference between sucking up and being religious.....tebow is use to getting all the fame and glory for his ''god bless'' and mr.niceguy stuff in the college days,NFL guys are getting tired of his brown nosing and they dont wanna hear his ''god bless'' every 10 seconds.PLUS having different players in there with different religions is something tebow needs to know and understand before he starts his brown nosing his famous ''god bless'' every conversation.

Most def +1... I wish the guy well, but he's still a douche.

Pretty sure that the Wonderlic is more about quick decision-making ability than raw intelligence, so studying isn't going to help a whole lot.

Tebow is genuine, and that pisses off a certain demographic of the American population. When he says and does the stuff he does, a lot of people are uncomfortable with it because it makes these people acutely aware of what they are not. The dude is a freak of nature... A big, country strong, blazing fast white quarterback with an unwavering faith. He talks the talk AND he walks the walk. Most of us would be satisfied with just having one of his traits, but his excellence (for lack of a better word) magnifies our lack thereof...so some people despise him.

The following question isn't directed at the poster to which I responded, but to the readers in general.

What does it say about YOU when you actually commit brain cells and emotions to disliking and hating a guy like this?

Look, I don't know if Tebow is sincere or not. He is the only one that knows that. Having said that, I am gonna have to stand up for him. People make me sick today with their religious intolerance, and Tebow is a brave dude for using his stature positively in a world that is doing its best to abolish God. And for the God we once honored, we have traded in steroid scandals, guns in locker rooms, dog fighting, and an overall crime wave that has flooded every sport at every level... What a hypocritical civilization we have turned into. You can claim religious freedom, as long as you observe it privately... You can't CALL it the "Beer Barrel", but you can have some profit off the beer sales at your bowl game... You MUST comply with the theory of evolution in order to get through required science courses, but you can't even MENTION the theory of creation... I find it ironic that the more secular our nation becomes, the more our way of living suffers. Call me a religious zealot, but I think Tim Tebow should make his beliefs even more publicized in this detached world of increasing persecution. And God bless this land, because we need it.

Our way of living suffers from being a secular nation? I dont see it. You may think people are intolerant of your religion but really they are just tired of you trying to shove it down their throats.

If Tebow wanted to pray then he should have prayed by himself. Id also lay some money on the guy telling him to shut the f@$! up being religious himself. Tebow just seems to be the guy who will run with it to the point of being an annoyance.

You want to talk about persecution? What about the largely religious movement to ban gay marriage? How come it is only Christians who have ever told me that I am living an immoral life? Talk about intolerance. You dont see people standing outside of churches telling people they believe in a fairy tale but at the Chic Fila Bowl I saw some demonstrators telling me I was going to Hell for being a sports fan.

The issue isn't just about religion, it is about a guy that has been the big man on campus for a long time that has had people do what he wants. He ain't "superman" anymore and he needs to realize this.

It also demonstrates that ones religiousness is a personal matter and it should be kept that way. Quite frankly it was extremely arrogant for him to lead a group prayer with a bunch of guys he knows nothing about.

Not being the BMOC is going to be a huge adjustment for Timmy.

He's lived a pretty sheltered life considering he's been in front of a camera daily.

The real world is tough.

If he wants to pray before a test that is up to him. The guys in the room have a choice to not bow their heads in prayer with him. I think those of you who cast the stone against Tebow need to remember, people who share his beliefs are tolerant of your behavior which in many ways is as annoying at what you speak of. Don't hate on someone because they have a different belief than you and I can assure you that Tebow's show of Christian faith is in no way a glorification of himself but of Jesus Christ.

"Ban" gay marriage? Wouldn't it have to be legal before it could be "banned"? Whether you believe in God or not, there is still right and wrong. And whether you want to believe it or not, our country was founded as a Christian nation. Allow me to demonstrate:

Benjamin Franklin: | Portrait of Ben Franklin
“ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel”

John Adams and John Hancock:
We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! [April 18, 1775]

Patrick Henry:
"Orator of the Revolution."
• This is all the inheritance I can give my dear family. The religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed.”
—The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Henry

Thomas Jefferson:
“ The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.”

“Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus.”

"I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus."

Thomas Paine:
“ It has been the error of the schools to teach astronomy, and all the other sciences, and subjects of natural philosophy, as accomplishments only; whereas they should be taught theologically, or with reference to the Being who is the author of them: for all the principles of science are of divine origin. Man cannot make, or invent, or contrive principles: he can only discover them; and he ought to look through the discovery to the Author.”

I hope that is enough to help you understand how we have gone to hell in a handbasket. But then again, you're probably much smarter than the greatest thinkers of recent human history right? I'm sure you know more about freedom and liberty than those old farts any day of the week... All sarcasm aside, I'd like to hear exactly why you hate religion so bad...
