Time to go after SC commits?

If they knew where blitzes would be coming from, that would be a huge advantage.
Rattler would still have to make the throws. WRs would still have to get open. At the end of the day you can have all the signals you want but players have to execute.

A lot easier to execute when you know what's coming.
Still have to make the throws. Still have to beat the coverage and get open. Here is an example. Let’s say last year we had all of UGAs signals. Do you honestly think we beat them? How about this year? Even if we had UGAs signals, do you think Milton would go off like Rwttler did?

What is this argument? If they had the signals (not saying they did, but if), who gives a s**t that they executed well? Knowing the signals makes execution significantly easier…that’s why it isn’t allowed.

“Sure, the Astros knew the pitches, but they still had to make good contact.” Yeah, we know that, but knowing the pitches before hand is a massive benefit, just like knowing what defense the other team is going to run.

The argument is even if they knew the signals that doesn’t account for Rattler lighting us up like he did. Did it help? Sure. Was it the main reason? No.

It’s among the worst arguments I’ve ever seen on this board.

IF they had our signals, it removes one of the toughest elements of playing the quarterback position, which is diagnosing a defense in real time while simultaneously executing your own play.

Having that element of the game taken care of makes things infinitely easier for a quarterback, and you could 100% attribute Rattler’s play in that game to knowing the defenses beforehand (again, IF they knew our signals).

And I know that you’re aware of that. I can’t fathom why you’re continuing down this line of reasoning.

It's not unlike the reason you don't play poker with the cards facing up.

If it didn't matter all that much, why are are people going to extremes to steal the signs? And why do teams have elaborate schemes to disguise their own signs?

Know what is coming matters, and it matters tremendously.

Good point. In fact, I have to wonder why they even use signals or try to disguise them since it’s really not an advantage. Just yell out the play, let the defense know what’s coming, and play ball.

Yes I do think we be as t UGA if we know what they are running ahead of time.

When you know exactly what coverage the defense is in and their assignments, it's SOOOO much easier to anticipate where the open WR is going to be. Or you know to change the play at the line.

If knowing the signals doesn't matter, then why is Michigan risking a big sandal to do it?

Don't know about this year, but last year we would have drilled uga. If Heupel knew what the defense was doing snap to snap he would have killed them with Hooker.

For a lot of teams especially USCjr, I think this year could be the year of early commit, signing day lack of signing surprise. They may have a really empty stocking come Christmas Day because they were so bad this year…..
