Tiny staying?

Maybe Butch is recruiting him to stay just as hard as he is recruits to come. I think this is a time people don't want to jump ship. They want to stay and see what can happen

I really hope he stays, but totally understand if he doesn't. The guy is a class act and a darn good football player. He will be a hall of famer.

it's be nice if he stayed, but he's a projected 1st round pick. not worth the risk of injury if you ask me.

So you can tell if a player is going to The Hall before they play a snap in the NFL? You're legit bro. You should work for rivals.

The projections on him vary a bit. I've seen mid-first round down to early second round. He should test the waters but if he's projected as a late first, early second pick he should consider coming back. He could be a top 10 pick if he comes back for his senior year.

Could I see him going early? Yes.

However, he seems to be very invested in UT.

Also, he is currently valued at the #4 OT behind Matthews, Lewan and Kouandjio. Over the last 4 years, 4/4/6/2/5 OTs have been taken in the 1st Round. If he leaves, he stands a good chance to be a 1st Rounder. Historically, the 4th OT off the board is usually mid-20s.

There is a big big big difference between mid-20s 1st Round money and low-1st. While Pugh was the 5th OT taken, he was taken at 19 so his $8,345,898/4year contract $4,449,744 signing bonus is pretty indicative of the high end of what Tiny could be looking at.

If Tiny comes back, he could compete be the 1st or 2nd OT taken and Luke Joeckel signed a $21,201,598/4year deal and a signing bonus of $13,799,344.

That's a lot of money for staying 1 year.

I am sorry... B Mo is recruiting all the time and he is a senior. Doesn't mean a thing other than that they are true VFL.

Will tiny get better staying a year? - 100% Yes, but no one can guarantee if he will still be top 3. There are always guys who will jump the board from nowhere.

This is a great post and I agree 100%.

Assuming this post is fairly accurate to what actually would/will transpire, that would mean Tiny staying at UT next year will pay him $22million dollars over the subsequent 4 years.

I would think the upside is definitely worth the downside in his case.

Assuming he stays healthy, the likelihood that he moves up on the board is far far far greater than falling down it.

Career Ending Injury is the only major concern I can see of staying one more year.

OTs have pretty much overtaken QBs as the most valuable draft position. A Top 2-3 OT will go early. There is a pretty big drop-off, over the last 5 years, from the 3rd OT to the 4th.

IMO (which is worthless) Tiny has shown he can excel in a man-blocking scheme. 2012 showed that. He's struggling a little bit in the Zone scheme we run right now. I think roughly 1/3 of the NFL run the ZBS. If Tiny can show his excellent Soph year (which he was recruited to run) but also show he can retool himself and excel within the ZBS (which he wasn't recruited for, but adapted to) he would have enormous value as no NFL team that would be looking at him would doubt his ability to adapt to their offensive style.

He would benefit from the senior year in college. There is risk to that. He physically dominates most opponents in college except for guys like Clowney who he has done well against. But there is an emotional maturity to the game as well, and we see at times Tiny struggling somewhat there. An extra year would give him better maturity in that area and allow him to be in top physical condition. He will NOT physically dominate the NFL players like he does college players. He will have to rely on technique to make it in the pros.

He may very well come back. He's not lead pipe cinch 1st rounder, much less top half of the 1st round.

No way AJ is going pro unless he just wants out of school. His draft stock just isn't going to be high enough for him to risk it.

I'd really like to see him stay, and you make a great case for staying if he is able to elevate his position. I don't play the lottery, but I think Tiny's case would be similar to hitting a large jackpot. Do you take a smaller amount up front, or a larger sum spread out over multiple years? I think most of the large winners are advised to take the money sooner rather than later, and I'll bet that sports agents will be advising the same if Tiny projects in late first round. It is a gamble, I'm remembering Jason Witten. Would have loved to see him stay for his senior year.
