Tiny staying?

I love how some are saying it's impossible that he stays , Peyton Manning ring a bell? He would have went #1 and he stayed . It depends on the individual . I wouldn't be surprised either way .

Archie took out a 10 million dollar insurance policy through Lloyd's of London Peyton's senior year. Very little risk there.

He can still root for UT from the NFL. Of course he can still be excited for the team he helped build. He's gone but still a VFL.

I am sorry... B Mo is recruiting all the time and he is a senior. Doesn't mean a thing other than that they are true VFL.

Yup. We all love Tiny and he loves UT but dude is 99.9% likely going pro and rightfully so. He can always graduate while playing like others have before.

Could I see him going early? Yes.

However, he seems to be very invested in UT.

Also, he is currently valued at the #4 OT behind Matthews, Lewan and Kouandjio. Over the last 4 years, 4/4/6/2/5 OTs have been taken in the 1st Round. If he leaves, he stands a good chance to be a 1st Rounder. Historically, the 4th OT off the board is usually mid-20s.

There is a big big big difference between mid-20s 1st Round money and low-1st. While Pugh was the 5th OT taken, he was taken at 19 so his $8,345,898/4year contract $4,449,744 signing bonus is pretty indicative of the high end of what Tiny could be looking at.

If Tiny comes back, he could compete be the 1st or 2nd OT taken and Luke Joeckel signed a $21,201,598/4year deal and a signing bonus of $13,799,344.

That's a lot of money for staying 1 year.
I agree with that...plus, you have one more year of exposure to the draftniks/analysts, who are looking keenly at any supposed flaws in your game. He got beat a few times in both the UF and UGA game, so...he's not done quite as well as I thought he would, this season.

Last year, I thought DJ Fluker would go much higher than he did (in the 1st Rd). Coming off a NC season, and with his massive size, one would have thought he'd be a lock for a top 10 pick. He wasn't. His teammate, Warmack went several spots ahead of him.

One more year in this system, under CBJ, and with a LOT of exposure, in the nationally televised games, he'll see his stock rise to a top5 position. Commentators will be talking him up as a very early draft pick. That itself will pay for the extra year in college. Him and Blair as bookend tackles, with Jalen Hurd running behind them, would be EPIC!

because everyone knows that finishing one year of college is impossible after you've put $10-20mil in your bank account. Honestly I'll never understand the "finish your degree" crowd. If someone had offered me that kind of money to leave school as a junior I would have left without packing.
I don't think he has a chance to get that much. IMO, he'll be in the late 1st/early 2nd area, where he'll have to make a tough decision if it's worth it or not.

A 2nd rounder might pull in an average of $1M per year, while getting picked, say, 10th, would more than double what he gets. If he isn't going to be solidly in the 1st round, he might be better off buying an insurance policy and coming back for another year to try to improve his stock.

I remember another Tennessee guy who everyone thought would leave after his junior season.

Now he's stuck running a bunch of Papa John's.

Whats wrong with saying he's a future hall of famer. Giving Tiny his props thats all. No need to lambast.

Saying he's a potential first rounder and All-American is giving props. Saying someone is a future Hall of Famer without even being in the league yet is ludicrous.

Tiny may leave, but he's talked a lot about wanting to be apart of the resurrection of Tennessee football. The way our class is shaping up for 2014, we could possibly compete next year. We'll be young, but upgraded in talent all across the field. I think Tiny wants to leave his mark in a big way. Proud to call him a Vol.

If the kid wants to stay--and has a chance to move from, say, the 4th or 5th left tackle taken this year to 1st or 2nd next year, let's not rush him out the door!

There's no testing the water like the NBA. Once you declare for the draft your life as a collegiate football player is over.

I just meant he should try to determine his draft stock. I think there are organizations that will do that for potential early entries and help him evaluate the decision.

Maybe he means winning out and receiving a January 1st bowlgame in 2014. I hope he comes back next season but his family comes first so I expect him to leave.

I wish he would stay. Tiny on one side and blair on the other. We would have a great line for next year.

That logic alone indicates you wouldn't just put it in the bank account. Putting $10-$20MM in the bank account requires discipline. Discipline enough not to 'leave without packing'. Now, I know that was hyperbole on your part, but still. Surely you've seen the statistics on pro athletes and bankruptcy. It's not as if they are taking it and putting it in bonds and Vanguard accounts.

Unless Tiny is majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics, I'd say getting a degree is one of the most valuable things he can do for his next 60 years on planet earth.

Or he blows a tire and goes in the late rounds or signs as a UFA

He may very well come back. He's not lead pipe cinch 1st rounder, much less top half of the 1st round.

No way AJ is going pro unless he just wants out of school. His draft stock just isn't going to be high enough for him to risk it.

Tiny and AJ are both headed to the league after this year.

Yep, Papa John's seems to be his day job now. You know, when he's not regularly torching NFL defenses at an all-time historic clip, haha.

That's all the more reason for him to go. No position on the field is more affected by the performance of others than the offensive line. Richardson's stock could be hurt by the play of 4 totally green linemates.

Unfortunately, I think it's happening to Cyrus K. at Bama right now.
Marcus Jackson isn't green, and Dylan Weisman won't be green. Coaches LOVE him. Blair won't be green, either. He's a big JUCO OT, and will be an EE. Crowder will be a RS Soph., who has already gotten some backup reps. So, there won't be a green OL next year.
