Tiny's Stock Drops as 1st Rounder....

You guys actually think the NFL will keep him around if he keeps having injuries to his knee? I don't see him playing out his 4 year contract.

According to SB Nation he is no longer a 1st round choice but more likely a mid round draft pick. His recent combine workout was less than impressive. Medical reports say he very well could have to "redshirt" his 1st year in the NFL due to lingering issues with the knee he had surgery on before the 2013 season. One scout said based on the 2013 game tapes, he would project him as a 5th round pick.

Sounds like another case of a player who is a legend in his own mind and left the college game a year too early to seek his fame and (diminished) fortune in the NFL. Too bad. Lesson learned for all the 3-and-out crowd.

He was a legend in this board'a mind. That's for damn sure

If the knee is that much of an issue it seems like that probably played into his decision to come out now. If he was going to have to take off next season and then enter the draft after not playing an entire season who do you think that would have affected his draft stock? Not to mention, if he is going to take a year off to heal his knee would he rather do that going to class and not getting paid or getting a check in the NFL?

It did, he wanted to get some sort of paycheck before his knee goes, and I can't say I blame him.

This is probably another case of someone listening to their "friends". I hope he does good but its sad to see guys get influenced to leave school early only to lose millions of dollars

Yeah, for the family. Hilliary Clinton's most famous line for every liberal idea she had was "it is for the children".

Considering his family is extremely poor and lives in a rough area, I'd say he is being truthful. A lot of these guys want to help out their loved ones. I don't know why you hate our players so much.

Several on here have a serious misconception about the talent level in this program over theist few years. They think that just because a player puts on the jersey, the player is great.

Not hate. You are the hater for anyone with an opposing view to you. Just seems like too many players jump to the NFL $$$ thinking they will play for 10-15 years and make millions. Sadly most will not. The difference in the contract value between a 1st and say a 3rd rounder is immense, especially over time. And I'm betting Tiny did not graduate (I'm not certain) with a degree which means he has no fall back plan should he never make it or quickly wash out of the NFL.

While I'm not close friends with Tiny, one of my underwriters is. Her son grew up with Tiny. And she told me he needed to go to help his mother out. From the couple times I've met Tiny he's always seemed like a great guy with a big heart. Wouldn't doubt for a minute he's trying to help his family out. I wish him the best!

He was never a first rounder.

Nor is James a 2nd.

It is hilarious how this board overvalues the team's pro prospects.

I really do think James will end up being a very good RT at the next level. He's got a great skill-set and build for that position. Unfortunately, that position just isn't valued nearly as highly as LTs so I don't know where he'll get drafted.

Here's a great place to look at current draft stock for every prospect: Play the Draft

It combines/averages the experts mock drafts and updates on a daily basis. Mel Kiper's been tweeting about it. Tiny's stock today is 41 overall. He's dropped 14% in the last 7 days.

Wouldn't it be great if he could void his selection to enter the draft and have another year of training to be special.

Michael Munoz staying that extra year really worked out for him.

Tiny made the right decision for him and his future. Wish him the best of luck.

Well, when you come from nothing and suddenly have the opportunity to make more in one year than your family has made in your lifetime, you jump at the chance. If you have not been in that situation, then it's easier to take the high road. Judging from your posts, you have not been in Tiny's shoes.
