Titans, Jeff Fisher parting ways ?

I hate the Titans. I'm not particularly fond of Fischer.

But anyone who thinks that he's not one of the better coaches in the NFL today, or that the Titans are somehow better off for having gotten rid of him is a fool, knows nothing about football, and should not be allowed on the internetz.

Um, ok. Fulmer was one of the better college coaches in 2007 also I guess. Fisher knows defense, but he had become complacent with the Titans just as Fulmer had with the Vols. Fisher will coach again, because he's still young for a coach. I don't see Fisher ever winning a super bowl though. Without Dinger as OC, Fisher never had an offense that could do anything.

"Jeff Fisher wanted to have his son on the staff as a quality control coach and thought that was going to be approved. Brandon Fisher helped out during the season while offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger was receiving cancer treatment." - ESPN.

Bud is a douche. Let the guy give his son a break. & The reason this was a bad mood for what he did without an Elite QB he did good. He came a yard from winning the superbowl and yes he had several just okay years but he also had really good years when it wasn't expected. He is a good guy and a hard worker.. He was loved by many that knew him.

what makes him such a good coach?? look up his stats..WHAT HAS HE DONE? i 'm a fool? haha the man was a constant loser...TELL ME WHY he's "better" coach..PLEASE!!!

Wow....so

(unless Fisher left of his own accord)

Bud may have chosen the "being a dick" option....meaning he made sure to wait long enough on this so that - when he did make the fire - all the other league jobs had already been filled

...yet another tennessee team stuck scrambling for "who's left" to coach after all the hires had already been made everywhere else

Not really. He has never been cut. I don't necessarily believe this, but Bud's plan could have been this scenerio the whole time. Maybe he wanted to announce they would release VY so it doesn't look like he picks a player over a coach. Then he makes it look like a turn of events causes Fisher and the Titans to part ways. Could the next step be the new coach wants Bud to bring back VY? (Behind the scens, Bud could be telling the new coach to keep VY.)

...so that in the end it still looks like he favors a player above any coach and gives him special priviliges

you want to see a locker room mess, put a team in that scenario and let them realize what's going on

Yeah, to find a good coach you have to be in a huge market like Tampa Bay.....

maybe he's suggesting that it's a more uphill battle for the smaller market teams? (in comparison to their big market counterparts)

I'll tell you when Bud Adams pissed me the eff off. The way Steve McNair was treated right before he got canned. McNair was my favorite QB. That hurt my heart.

and that one was all Bud; the rest of the staff was out in Southern California

The first 3 numbers dialed, regardless of reason or actual odds of hiring:

1. Bill Cowher
2. John Gruden
3. Herm Edwards

I really think we need a veteran motivator who knows structure and has experience.

In reality: Brian Shot (NYJ), Zimmer (CIN), Williams (TEN)

Thanks Bud for waiting this long to make a decision. He has to be related to Al Davis. Moron...

They overextended themselves on the cap, betting it all on tying to win a SB....and that caused several years of necessary correction.....they were coming out of it right about the time that Bud Adams insisted (ostensibly, from his home in Houston) forced them to take Young - which has only further crippled their efforts - on the field, in free agency, in re-signing developed talent and with the cap.

That also explains your offense, meaning, Vince Young is like Jamarcus Russell, but not as fat. And Russell isn't an emotional midget, as far as we know.

That you'd equate Fischer to Fulmer is the best argument I could make in opposition to your idiotic stance. He wont coach again because he's "young" but because he's "a great coach".

As a Titan-hater - I sincerely hope you land him.

Noted. I threw out his name as one of few experienced head coaches who are unemployed and would actually pick up the phone.

Who else is preferable? Sherman? Billick? Williams?

He accomplished more with less than any coach in the NFL. The Titans are by far the cheapest organization in the league, and he managed to get them to a Super Bowl and a couple other AFC title games. They always have to get lucky with draft picks, because the front office flat out refuses to pursue top free agents. I can't remember a single big fish they've landed in their entire time in Nashville. As sad as it is, Randy Moss is probably the biggest free agent they've signed, and he never even saw the field. The other possibility for that honor is a washed up Jevon Kearse after he fell off the face of the earth in Philly. They've bombed on HIGH first round picks at least twice in the past few years (Pacman, VY) and still managed to go 13-3 a couple years ago with an ancient Kerry Collins. I challenge you to name a coach who did better with less talent.

Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, or Tony Dungy......If you are actually worth a flip, Bud, you go after one of those 3....

I wouldn't hold my breath on him making any of those calls. That old fool won't come off the cash to pay a coach like that. He'll try and get somebody on the cheap, just like everything else they always do, and hire somebody who's never been a HC before.
