Titans Owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning

a couple points could be made.

1. They will have to cut some guys

2. Cortland Finnegan will not be signing with them

3. They have to be willing to set a young qb back 3 years

4. They have to make an over the top sales pitch

If Bud really chases him I have to think he will have a decent chance.

Money won't be an issue, Titans are going to be top 5 or 10 in most cap space. We could sign Peyton and still sign some other veterans.

Hope Peyton goes to AZ. Their upside much better than Nashville Titans.

Peyton has said he isn't going to the NFC.

And Jake Locker is?

Sorry should have worded my previous post better to say none of those had potential to be NFL starting quarterbacks to begin with. Yes, I think Locker has the potential to be a very good quarterback in the NFL. Painter, Sorgi, and Orlovsky from the moment they were drafted I thought that they were career backups at best based on talent. Pretty much every NFL team would agree with me on that seeing as all three fell to the fifth and sixth rounds.

I know it is not going to happen....but I would enjoy seeing Peyton running the Cowboys O. It's all in place for him now, and I think year one he has the Boys in the Super Bowl.

I am kinda surprised J Jones has not even hinted at this (yet)....or maybe in his style, he would do it at the 11th hour.

Thats why we lost Bulluck, Haynesworth, Kearse, McNair, Mason, George, etc...

Just playing devils advocate, but what did any of those players do after they left the Titans? I think McNair did ok for a couple of years, and Mason.. but other than that? Smart choices if u ask me.

He has absolutely no clue what he's talking about. Kearse, Mason and Rolle left because of the cap purge back in '04. We couldn't afford them anymore. We let Bulluck go because he was old and very expendable (his stint with the NY Giants pretty much clarifies). McNair was a dumb move. He should've retired a Titan. Outside of that, I'm not sure I've seen us do anything totally unreasonable.

Watch, people are going to say the same exact things about Cortland Finnegan when he isn't re-signed. He won't be, and it's because he wants too much money. He wants to be paid like an elite corner, up there with the Revis's and Asomugha's of the world. He's not worth it, and the Titans know that. But people will still piss and moan and call us cheap because of it.

This. I cannot believe the amount of people that think Finnegan is worth re-signing for the amount of money that he wants. Can get alot of comparable CB for alot cheaper.

The majority of Titans fans want this, I know I sure do! Peyton returning home to the beloved state of Tennessee would be an amazing site to see! Not to mention, he'd have his shot to prove to the Colts that he still has what it takes by playing them twice a year. Im sure Peyton has no ill feelings or anything, but he does have that competitive edge about him. Hasselbeck was decent, but he's nowhere close to the level of Peyton Manning. Add Peyton to the mix and the Titans are at least in play off contention imo. He's just that good. The Colts were nothing without Peyton, last year proved that. Yet, he still managed to get them to the playoffs and made them a winning team. With the Titans weapons, Peyton would have a field day on competing defenses.

If some of you would read the article.. titans are 30 mil under salary cap. Lot's of room to play with.

Also anyone who thinks PM is not a huge upgrade over hassleback are retarded, therefor it only makes sense that if you can get Manning... get him and cut hassleback or trade him for an extra 2-3 rnd pick to help the D.

A couple years under manning and experience watching how to actually win enough games to go to the playoffs will do locker wonders... JMO and I am no Guru

Although in the end I doubt PM goes to even visit the Titans :(

BUD ADAMS IS A IDIOT!!! I am a Titans fan and this team will never win a SB with this idiot at the helm. NO ONE in their right mind would play for this guy when he wont PAY his own best players to stay with the team! Hes cheap and lame. Thats why we lost Bulluck, Haynesworth, Kearse, McNair, Mason, George, etc.... we can grow the players but then they leave. Manning is smart he has whipped the titans for years and he knows they are no where near reaching a superbowl.

Every player you just used as an example was at the end of their career outside of Albert and there was no way titans should've paid him that contract he got.

No a majority of Titans do not want this to happen, it is going to set the team back.

Peyton only has another 3-4 years in him anyways imo, why not take him? Locker can be groomed under Peyton, similar to Rodgers with Favre. You wont get a super bowl with Hasselbeck. With Peyton the chance is always there. Of course its a team effort, but Peyton would be an immediate upgrade over Hasselbeck any day of the week. I dont see how you could be a Titans fan and not want this to happen.

And Jake Locker is?

Locker played extremely well last year.

It's his prescence that complicates this Manning to Titans talk. If the Titans were to sign Manning it would likely require a 3 year committment. There are three years left on Locker's deal......

If the Titans want Manning, they'll simply cut Hasselbeck. No team is going to trade for him when they know you'll have to get rid of him to clear cap.

Frankly he should be the backup with no questions asked for next season. Locker was superior last season and is the future.

I just don't think Peyton cares that much about coming back to Tennessee.

He loves Tennessee, but he's looking for the best odds to win a Super Bowl or two in the next three or so seasons.

It's not about money or sentimental stuff... just championship potential after adding him to the roster.

The Titans should go for Manning and Williams and dump Hasselbeck. Locker may be good but when you can win now in the NFL you do it. Manning probably brings Wayne with him and with the current receivers they have they would be tough to defend. It would also allow Johnson to take fewer hits and get into space where he can create the big plays again. I am leaning toward Miami or Arizona in the PM sweepstakes
