'21 TN ATH Andre Turrentine (Tennessee signee - Transfer from Ohio St.)

Nice pickup. Multi year player is really key. We have a ton of talent on the back end now with both of our starting safeties back, plus McDonald and Walker, you have Turnage, Turrentine, and Slaughter at Nickel, and on the outside you have Hadden, Burrell, Charles, and Dee Williams. Pretty much all of those guys have started multiple games as well. I think they're pretty versatile, so a few guys could play different positions. We have to be able to find 5 people that can play high level football out of those 11 guys.

When he says this, who is Wesley?
“As far as the defense goes, and the secondary and where I fit, I’m looking to come in and compete for a starting job, and me and Wesley are on the same mission. We’re coming both to come in and compete for a starting job, and play alongside each other and become a real problem in the SEC.”

Screenshot_20211122-185657_Chrome.jpgTurrentine is a perfect example of what the last 15 years of bad coaching hires and lackluster performance on the field has cost us.

Thank goodness Heupel has groomed the image that Tennesse can win again even though UT only had a 7 win season. We were competitive in almost every game.

If he can add a couple wins to his first season with this roster, imagine what the perception and the fallout from that will be recruiting wise.

Pruitt had an 8 win season and I can't recall any recruits talking about how he was changing the program for the good. That is something I see mentioned a lot by recruits about Heupel.

BOOM!

I get the excitement about this commitment. But why are some of you acting like this is some kind of massive win for us? Was he a starter at OSU? No. OSU message boards don’t seem upset to lose him at all. One poster said he would likely have never seen the field. I mean this guy wasn’t some can’t miss prospect that is a complete stud.

No one is saying that. But even Callahan said he could be in strong contention for a starting spot.

Take away all the rest of the noise - isn't someone capable of starting, or at least being a strong backup (here), exactly what we needed? Those are exactly the types we've been honing in on with the portal.

You're hardly going to find any "can't miss players" this late in the portal cycle, but this is the next best thing. Pruitt's penalties have left us in this position. Doing with it the best we can.
