I'll be completely honest @LittleVol I highly doubt that happens. He's enamored with the Nicktator and talks to him on a daily basis. He's been told to stay open to everyone and do not burn bridges, but he's had bad communications with someone on UT staff. One of his coaches told me every time they call the 1st thing said is always "hey Barion you talked to Bama today?" Whats Bama saying instead of trying to sell what UT has to offer. There was a period in which he was ignoring the calls because he became so annoyed with it. I will say this it was not Kodi Burns so not sure why anyone else beside Burns, Heup, or Garner would be calling him. With him and Nolen you have to put your top guys on them and allow no assistant to the assistant calling with a bunch of jabbering or killing any momentum you gain.

Was there ever any momentum on UT’s side? Hard to believe there was if he’s ignoring phone calls. Without any context to the comment about Bama...it could’ve just been good-natured banter, maybe? Hard to see our top recruiters being that insecure or inexperienced...

The conversation could be...
BB: I only want to talk to Nick.
TN: Has Nick called you?

exactly. it doesn't look like he's had any serious communication or visits with TN of any kind in about two years-ish.

he seems to be an 'all my eggs in one basket' in terms of where he wants to go. which is fine....hope it works for him. looks like at the end of the day he'll wind up in the SECW one way or the other regardless.

Wasn't much defense in the Big12 at all but bk in the day they used to bring it. I was at the Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, etc when Nebraska(2x), Kansas St beat the living hell out of UT and their defenses were lights out. Also was at the NC game when Texas played USC what an amazing game there was Pros all over the field on both teams.

Texas and USC was a peak of the sport of football and the peak of the BCS era imo.

And we got the highly rated OL from GA that GA wanted...and OSU. I'm only interested in who is interested in TN. Don't have the time and energy to waste on others.

Lmao Bama bias? Geezus the kid destroyed the 7v7 circuit and is probably the top player in the state, fastest player in the state and so on and your narrative is Bama bias. This kid has 100% alpha I'm the best at anything I do attitude and shows it. That's what gave him 5* and top 15 ranking. I don't care if he was training with @HoleInTheRoof I'd still approve his ranking because he's A1 legit.
Don’t think anyone said he was a bad WR. But he’s not the Devonta Smith/Jerry Jeudy caliber player that Bama has had in the past few years. Guys like that are the only ones that should be ranked as top 15 players nationally. I would think the ranking is ridiculous even if the kid was committed to TN. Nobody in the state except Nolen is a top 100 guy

Initially yes he loved Tee and likes Burns and again it wasn't a top recruiter but an assistant of the lead guy. He was very open to UT but as I said he got rubbed the wrong way. I promise he's a very different kid and has a no bull💩 approach to things. It doesn't tk much to rub him the wrong way.

Points made today...
1. Player is so good he doesn't need the AL bump.
2. He is in love with NS.
3. He will not consider TN because someone keeps asking if the coach he is in love with is bothering to love him at all.
4 There was a time long ago when some teams in the Big12 played defense....and, oh by the way, they killed TN.

I missed anything good about Tennessee.

Look I'm sorry you don't remember the real BIG12 when Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, K. State were good and dominated winning championships. Research it start with the Nebraska Black Shirts, the UT vs K. State Cotton Bowl, Nebraska vs Peyton led UT.

Exactly what does that have to do with today's game? How is being good in the past so different than UT's situation? You can't have it both ways.

By the way, Kansas State has never won a national title, in any sport.

Sweetheart, I am sure I am older than you and remember those things vividly. I'm just not sure why you need to go back that far to find negative things about Tennessee. I mean, let's talk about the 97 bowl game instead of the 98 bowl game...???

Pretty crazy he got “rubbed the wrong way” when we haven’t heard anything close to that from any other recruits.

i 'member. Perennial top 10 program, SEC title contenders, in the conversation for national titles, winning bowl games almost every year, sending gaggles of dudes to the NFL every year.

this living in the past thing...not too shabby. no shade to be thrown there, so let's stay a while. :)

That's not a real surprising thing to hear.

Bama has put 4 WRs into the 1st round the past 2 seasons alone. And Nick flat out gets it done when he recruits. Some people think its just about money up front. The wisdom than man has, and the track record have gotten more recruits there than anything else.

If what you're saying is true, then that was really dumb move by UT's staff. I honestly don't believe that could happen. That's some very amateur ish... The new staff doesn't strike me as that.
So maybe someone told you that. Maybe they didn't. Either way I don't believe it actually transpired.

I stand by my words, when he see's our wRs shine this fall, he'll have a lot to think about.

this is total b.s. I’m sure the Vol coaches are calling him and talking about Ala. …..get real

Did I say K. State won a NC or is your reading comprehension poor? I think if you read it again you'd see K. State and Cotton Bowl referenced together not any damn thing about a NC at all.

Yeah ok Bill you clearly don't know me or that I don't mk up stories and 2. I dgaf who believes it or not because it always comes out in the end.

I didn't bring it up. Read the entire thread before asking a question. I was replying to did the Big12 play defense. Also sorry my only references are not those of UT history but that of college football as a whole. I've been very fortunate to see a lot and thus why I am not bias in my references. It wasn't a negative reference either its history.
