I like the Heupel hire. But we should have hired Hugh Freeze.

As it’s been said and you can’t seem to understand, Frost went undefeated with the previous coaches. Heupel played with many of Frosts players. Also, when you go undefeated the only place you can go is down.

He like many is just basing it off record and not taking into account when a group of 5 has double digit opt outs it has a major impact. Along with not deep diving into the game results and realizing your a play or possession away in all but one loss over the last two years of the so called decline from those losses being wins.

I have no idea how Heupel will do here but the UCF declined argument is very debatable considering how most cases one play could have changed Ls to Ws.

“His teams got worse each year” is such a strawman argument.

Save for only a select few coaches, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain the success Heupel enjoyed year one. Aside from a Saban or Dabo, you just don’t see 13-0 seasons consistently. LSU couldn’t even do it this year.

Then these same people are judging this most recent year as a failure, despite literally all of the unknowns and roadblocks surrounding the pandemic.

Freeze cheated and beat Saban twice. Freeze is a good head coach. Freeze took another HC job and is excelling at Liberty. Pruitt didn’t get another HC job.

Freeze would win here. So yes I would have hired him in a heartbeat. He has paid his dues.

He hasn’t gotten into trouble at Liberty. I am sure the NCAA has Liberty under the microscope. Also, I believe people can change. I personally don’t think we would have any trouble with Freeze here.

It would have been fun to have Freeze because he's proven to be a really good coach, but I have a very hard time imagining that he wouldn't have gotten us in the NCAA's doghouse sooner or later.
