Amari was had 7 attempts and 7 catches against Beasley. Hardly containing.Kaleb had a great game. Both those DBs lost the ball on that deep shot but outside of that he had a great game. First TD was more Whit extending the play than Amari just beating KB. Contained Amari other than that, but Amari got the ball with KB all over him all night. Got some strong ass hands
First TD was Whit doing a good job extending the play and Amari coming back to the ball. Second TD another DB ran into KB but Amari had him there, I'll give you that. Outside of those two plays, Amari had 4 catches for 20 yards for an average of 5 yards per catch. Kaleb also had to play both ways for the entirety of the game. Everything isn't always black and white. Kaleb played well and great receivers like Amari are going to find ways to make playsClearly I did. I was there. Not pass break up.
No everything is not black and white, but 7 points is 7 points.First TD was Whit doing a good job extending the play and Amari coming back to the ball. It wasn’t about who won the matchup. He was trying to say Amari just completely dominated Kaleb and wasn’t contained at all which is just not true. I’ve worked with both, both great kids, have no reason to be biasedNo everything is not black and white, but 7 points is 7 points.
And he did it twice against him.
Do you understand Lipscomb lost by 3 points? If Kaleb stops even 1 of those TDs then Lipscomb wins the game.
Beasley his damn self knows that he gave up too much.
Is he bad DB? Is he a wasted scholarship?
NO!
Some of you all act like it's a damn crime to critique a players performance if it's not up to par.
He competed! Had he not competed Lipscomb wouldn't have even been the game! But 1 vs 1 he lost the battle vs Amari. Guess what?? They'll have more opportunities...
Another defensive score. This kid has some crazy number of defensive scores in his career. Perhaps someone can provide the actual numbers.Good matchup tonight for KB against 2026 rising star Tyreek King. Had two picks tonight, a receiving TD, and returned a blocked FG for a touchdown in LA's 33-10 win
Check the Football Talk thread for my thoughts on the game. I think King is like a freshman but Catholic had a better receiver and neither could get free.Good matchup tonight for KB against 2026 rising star Tyreek King. I watched the game. Both great players. Amari was definitely frustrated by Kaleb during the game-whether it was being slung down for two yard gains or huffing and stomping on the way back to the huddle. In big boy football--great players are going to make plays. It wasn’t about who won the matchup. That's an interesting debate for the top player in TN for the 2024 classI watched the game. Both great players. I doubt that any other competitive high school in the country would dare to leave a CB in man coverage as much as Lipscomb did with Kaleb on Amari. I would take both of them, but if I had to choose one, I would take Kaleb.
Jalen was just more athletic. Freak athlete. Was talking to a guy a week ago or so, who has been involved with mid state athletics (particularly football) since I was in highschool (25 years ago). He made a very interesting comparison with KB to Jalen Ramsey. Said Jalen was probably a little more complete at this point vs KB. However, he said KB was the best corner he has seen out of the mid state since Ramsey.
We all have our opinions but I appreciated his well informed and experienced take on Beasley. I’m glad he is a VOL and I really expect that secondary will be a major strength for us moving forward.
Ricky Gibson, Jordan Matthews, and Kaleb Beasley are the type of CB recruits you have to land to build a great secondary. Cai Bates is one of those dudes too, if we can flip him.Was talking to a guy a week ago or so, who has been involved with mid state athletics (particularly football) since I was in highschool (25 years ago).
