Would you rather have a bunch of kid’s other SEC schools were trying to get or a bunch of kids MAC schools and C-USA schools were trying to land?

I’d rather have a bunch of kids our coaches want because they’ve decided they’re the ones who fit their systems and culture and give them the best chance to win.

I don’t really care either way…..I want our coaches to be good evaluators/developers which is one of the top traits for a coach….... we won’t know how good they are at evaluations/developing for a few years….. I’m tired of getting excited about players with their stars and offer lists only to suck once they show up on campus.

Watched him tonight. Had a kick return TD and an INT. Clearly one of the best athletes on the field. But they don’t play him much on offense, and he wasn’t necessarily all over on defense. Germantown played some undisciplined football but beat my alma mater by 4.

I am definitely not an expert, but on offense as rb who has great receiver skills and kick/ punt returns may be in his future.
Go to 20:30 mark for open field juke on kickoff return.

Naw actually @HoleInTheRoof is right you're not winning in the SEC with MAC, AAC, Conference USA recruits. This us the very thing that was a part if the downfall of Lying Lyle Jones. Recruiting fake 4* with no offer from the BIG boy school in their state. You gotta hv the talent equivalent to your opponents to win in this conference. Fit a system is bad coach speak. Get the talent and configure things to work for them

I didn’t say a damn thing about recruiting MAC talent, but go on with your straw man.

Not all talent is the same in every system. And not all SEC talent is rated 4 or 5 stars by dweebs running a recruiting service.

Sam Pittman has done a remarkable job turning Arkansas around quickly. How do you think he did it? What was Arkansas’ average recruiting ranking the last 3-5 years?

Buddy, Heupel being paid millions as the head coach and you train high school kids. I’d say he has a better idea than you but I digress

They recruit well, just nobody ever talks about them. You have to have a lot of 4-5 stars to win at a high level, but you have to take guys that fit your system, not just talent to get talent.

Sam brought in 2 elite coordinators who both did what they had to with the players they had. Briles and Odom didnt force their likes on the talent on campus. Also Brett B did recruit well to control the trenches. Odom just coaches his behind off on defense. He knows Xs and Os.

Please stop quoting him. It ruins every thread. He’s a random dude on the internet, quit letting him get under your skin and let him go be miserable somewhere else. Clearly a dude that has this much time to post on a fan forum that he isn’t even a fan of has no actual say in anything NPA does.

LOLme miserable not hardly. Not a fan try again @Wickman as far as NPA try again there too I’m the person who was there to help found NPA and train from day 1 at Pearl Cohn field

Right. And those classes are around 9-11 in the SEC each year. If you tell a lot of fans on this board that Tennessee will be recruiting in that range of ranking, they’ll howl that Heupel can’t win in the SEC with that kind of recruiting. He can, if they’re the right guys.

Mizzou beat the brakes off the East on their way to ATL 2 years in a row despite not recruiting close to the level of UGA, UF or UT. Their 3 classes before the first ATL appearance would’ve ranked 8th, 12th and 11th in the current SEC (2010-12).

Agreed, but we should be getting better talent than Arkansas. Which should mean we could be pretty good in a couple years. We just gotta get guys that fit the new systems

Agree. Any coach who can’t tweak his system to integrate talent is a coach who won’t succeed long term
