'18 TN DE Emmitt Gooden (Tennessee signee)

JFC... so the Gooden thing is legit?

DL is arguably right behind QB as the one position we can't afford a single injury. Especially not to someone like Gooden - who was our most experienced and steadiest returning guy.

I don't recall if he was a three for two or if this year was his hard and fast final year - but if so hopefully he can apply for a medical hardship.

  • Hopefully Solomon gets positive news soon.
  • Hopefully Emerson continues to impress, as his early camp reports have indicated he has started to.
  • Hopefully Kingston Harris develops - Ive seen his name pop up a couple times in practice recaps.
  • Hopefully our JUCO guys come in ready. Early reports are Savion looks ready but has been swimming upstream in practices (big change from where he came from to here). Also read where Middleton was in with the ones last night for a bit (with EG and AB).
  • Hopefully the staff can convince Kurott Garland to stick around. He's a big body in year two of the program. Might be reading into Pruitts comments but I at least got the impression he didn't want Garland to leave, with how he answered the question the other day.
  • Hopefully Elijah Simmons can give us a solid 7-10 snaps a game.
  • Probably biggest of all - hopefully our offense and run game steps up this year, eating up TOP,

only silver lining is that it's early in camp, and everyone that would qualify as "next man up" is on notice. you got 3-4 weeks to get there. if you wanted an opportunity, one may have just opened for ya. go get it.

Please just be minor. We need him for BYU but if it’s nothing major then he could be ready by Florida (6 weeks) no problem
i think at this point, we just hope it's not a big deal....and we're just gonna have to wait and see what it is.....

According to his UTsports bio he was at JUCO two years, and then here last year. I think he does still have his redshirt year.

Even though he’s our only proven DT, good news is between Kingston Harris, Emerson and Simmons, they can probably handle it (if Gooden is out for a while)

I have very little faith those 3 can get the job done. Even with all 4 I think it’s a weak part of this team

I agree. I was kind of thinking the drop off between Gooden and those three is most likely not that great. He played well last year given the situation, but not Aaron Donald by a long shot

No offense, but I don't see the silver lining you're referring to. None of the guys you mentioned have seen live action in the SEC. Very difficult for freshman to make an impact on the interior of the DL, which is already the weakest unit on the team.

i don't think you can overstate the fact this if Gooden is out, it's a big loss. this is one position group we knew we needed some luck on in the health department....especially with the one guy that returns any type of production.

aside from JG, you could argue that EG was the next most important player to not have injury issues....

Look who's on the wallpaper the university just released...
