'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

Just as is with all recruiting....doesn't matter until they sign. With this one Auburn came on strong for someone planning to sign with TN. TN countered. If today was signing day he would sign with TN. Doesn't mean Auburn won't keep trying. Put on y'all's big girl panties and enjoy the ride.
This.
And stop going thru my underwear drawer.

I think he probably will sign in February. He has said in multiple articles (Auburn and Vols) that his parents want him to take his time and probably sign in February.

Naw. I think people forget that Auburn really has been a little more revelant than the Vols the last decade or so. These kids wasn't even born when Tennessee was winning big time games. This the type of stuff get used against you in recruiting and players being drafted
Or he could have some instate pride, like Jauan Jennings, put on the orange, and continue bringing this program back to national relevance. With Pruitt and this staff, they will have us back in 2 more years tops. Jay would be a sophomore, so he will have a couple of years to shine and enjoy the ride.

Well.. we beat AU last year. He was alive then.

Yep anything can happen from that time period especially the way coaches change jobs or coaches not retained

But seriously, Pruitt whipping a little Auburn tail, despite the difference in program establishment and HC experience? If that doesn't sum up Gus, idk what would.
That win last year did help but the way the season started was not a good look on many fronts. They don't lose those two games. They would have had recruits begging to be apart of the program.

No doubt it hurt, just that simple.
But if we close like we're capable of, it should only highlight where we're headed.

And compared to Auburn? That loaded and established, with a HC that experienced..Yet, post Cam, Auburn has been a perennial footnote. Even in just their division.
I mean they're always completely freaking stacked! But yet zero expectations. Unless you count the yearly fanbase calls for his firing, if results are produced "this time". Rinse, repeat.

I believe this, and it’s the main reason I’ve had such a hard time letting go of those losses even after we’ve clearly made significant improvement.

You're right. Closing the year off strong is key to any program looking to get these type of recruits. Another reason why if I'm a recruit in a situation I'll wait until February to see the final results

Seriously man, it sucks that we lost to them. We would have went 9-3 and probably would have had a chance at Smalls, Sewell, Gilbert, Jarrett, and DW.
Yeah, I'll never forget it but I'll move past it. It'll just be in a different season.
This one will always have "imagine if" attached. But it'll have no bearing on future seasons as long as the recruiting impact is manageable.

Not doubting you, but why have a commitment event in November if you aren’t going to sign until February? That tells me that the commitment doesn’t mean much, and may even be interpreted as a signal for other teams to up the ante. If you want to “enjoy the whole process” that’s fine, just wait and announce in February, not November.

This recruiting class is most likely going to finish about the same place we were last year, around 13th. Unless we land a big time recruit we're not talking about. In order to finish even that high we have to land DW.

But this class feels like a really good class. Maybe its just top heavy and of course the long snapper isn't helping us in the ranking. But man, a class with the OL/DL talent of this one feels like a big time class and it is going to still be ranked fairly low.

To help recruit other players

Let it go. Just get the road win Saturday and keep climbing. We coming.
Smart recruits know who Pruitt is and that we're back.
