'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

Correct on all fronts. We defended the attack.

To help recruit other players

Can’t he do that signing in December? I’m all for him announcing tomorrow if he’s going to sign at the first available opportunity, but how effective of a peer recruiter can he be if he is still keeping his options open until February?

The fact that the only other school in his decision factor this late in the game is Auburn makes me think he might be fishing for a deal. And Auburn is damn good at that.

You're right. Closing the year off strong is key to any program looking to get these type of recruits. Another reason why if I'm a recruit in a situation I'll wait until February to see the final results
We'll know the results of the regular season before early signing day in December. Now the bowl game results, that might be a few days later.... ;)

Edit: Nm #itsover. Also circled the most important thing on this page.

With Gus being on and off the hot seat, and mostly on, I would be shocked if we lost a legacy player to them right now.

This recruiting class is most likely going to finish about the same place we were last year, around 13th. Unless we land a big time recruit we're not talking about. In order to finish even that high we have to land DW.

But this class feels like a really good class. Maybe its just top heavy and of course the long snapper isn't helping us in the ranking. But man, a class with the OL/DL talent of this one feels like a big time class and it is going to still be ranked fairly low.

Clemson's classes under Dabo. Stay in that 9 to 16 range and we'll be just fine

Hardy was always going to take an OV to AU and go to the Iron Bowl. I'm sure Auburn will keep pushing-- just like they did with Morris. Some guys just like visiting around and being recruited more than others. Mays and Lawrence shut it down early, but that core group is tight. Has been for months.
He won’t take those visits

Yeah same with Lawrence visiting OU. Most of these kids probably haven't been that far afield from where they live. They probably just wanna see something... different. This core group- Bailey, Mays, Lawrence, Hardy, Baron, you could include others- are gonna be the foundation of this class. Not worried if they use all their resources. And as the guys on VQ said, these kids hate when all the drama gets sucked out of their decisions by media and recruiting junkies like us.
