'19 TN DT Elijah Simmons (Tennessee signee)

I got a little insight on Elijah. He hangs out with my friend's son's AAU team. My friend says he's an outstanding kid with terrific parents. He treated all the AAU boys like little brothers and always took time for them. He's mean, physical, strong and will "play early" but he's also a "character kid". They all love everything about him.

He can also sing a little bit too...

Wow

Nevermind 247 has him #33 and their composite #24. Where did they have him in the state?
He does not camp much. Let's see what he does his senior year if he gets to focus on just DT instead of playing OL too. He will get developed when he gets here anyway. He's already strong as an ox too. Benching over 400 when he committed. Know he will get stronger before he gets here, just got that frame for power.

Simmons played both DT and LG tonight against MBA. He was double and triple teamed all night on defense. Unfortunately, he didn’t get many head to heads with Jackson Lamply who Pear Cohn tried to avoid. He did get 1 TFL in the 1st quarter and more than held his own going against 2 or 3 guys at a time. At LG, he pretty much imposed his will pushing guys off the line with ease. In 3rd quarter while play D, he appeared to suffer a lower body injury, but walked off on his own and returned on the next series to play LG. By the 4th quarter, he appeared to be running out of gas as he only took a few snaps off the whole game. Also, he looks like he may have started dropping a little weight and he didn’t seem much shorter than Lamply. His strength and motor were on full display. He probably won’t have the sexy stats and I’m not sure how he will handle SEC competition, but it was clear he can take on multiple OL at a time as a good nose tackle has to do.

Thanks for posting and welcome to VN!

Will help him when he only has to play on one side of the ball.

Elijah is a monster i can't wait to see him play for the VOLS and I love how Coach Pruitt has put an emphasis on strengthening Tennessee's defensive and offensive lines.

Man I hope he stays healthy. Having to play both sides to me just increased chance to get hurt. Because playing fatigued could def have a hand in in it. Hope his coaches take heed.

For sure.He will probably play around 325 to 330 but be in very good shape. It will probably take him a year in sc.I would love to be able to red shirt him for a year.I think it would really help his development.
Gooden should be established at nose that year and Savion Williams will rotate there and possibly Emerson...always with the health considering caveat. A good solid year of physical development and Rocker teaching would be ideal.
