A source around the Minnesota program believes that Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind four-star defensive tackle Kristian Williams will ultimately flip his commitment. He's been a verbal to the Gophers since mid-December.
My 247Sports Crystal Ball is currently riding with Oregon. The 6-foot-3, 297-pound Williams heads out to Eugene this weekend to check out the Ducks. Mario Cristobal and company are currently sitting on the nation's No. 8 recruiting class, tops in the Pac 12.
But a source says, if Tennessee pushes, and the Vols are slated for the last visit the first weekend of Feb. before National Signing Day, that Williams likely stays closer to home and that's what he's ultimately looking for. Jeremy Pruitt and his staff have currently recruited the country's No. 16 class.
Ah the thing with KM is they malnourished him to the point of losing power and of course Butch and his way of "developing" players was chit. The so called S&C program while he was here to. But yeah I only hold so much weight on the videos, but it does give an impression as to what they are capable of.Simmons, Anderson and Williams all look great in drills. One thing I’ve learned over the years of following recruiting is to never get too high or too low on how someone looks in these videos. Obviously you can judge potential but too many other factors in play.
Kahlil McKenzie looked like an unblockable DT that would push the pocket around coming out and we know how that turned out.
Watching Gooden at first half of year, I could not figure why he was not starting. Looked better than Tuttle and Johnson. Imo . I expect Big things from him this year.Quality of depth is the big question. Gooden player the most snaps of our returners in 2018, and he was a rotational player.
We’ve got plenty of bodies, we just don’t know how good most of them are yet.
KMac just didn’t have the drive. Maybe it was the fact that he was going to get picked up in the NFL regardless due to his family status. But he was more interested in being a Twitter celebrity and keeping his followers up to date on his daily thoughts. The signs were there when he gained almost 50lbs due to being forced to sit out his senior year. Still I held out hope, but the rich kid wasn’t motivated to be great.Ah the thing with KM is they malnourished him to the point of losing power and of course Butch and his way of "developing" players was chit. He definitely flashed great things at times. I wonder if he was behind in regards to conditioning and knowing the scheme to some extent. He’s gonna have to take a big step forward in 2019 or the outlook for the DL isn’t great.Watching Gooden at first half of year, I could not figure why he was not starting. He never really seemed to find a sweet spot with his weight. He came in too fat and out of shape to play 3 snaps in a row and left too light be the bulldozer he should have been.Ah the thing with KM is they malnourished him to the point of losing power and of course Butch and his way of "developing" players was chit. DL depth? IDK man, we’re depending pretty heavily on 2 JUCOs to pan out (always a crap shoot there, especially in regards to S&C) and a bunch of guys who weren’t able to take snaps away from a DL that wasn’t great last year. Solomon getting a waiver could change the outlook greatly though. Its actually pretty good and should be better than last year frankly.
I totally blame previous staff for that. I mean one cant lay all that on the players shoulders when it is known the inner turmoil that happened. Players falling on helmets, j. Jennings telling it how it was, butch bullying players and supposed had players jump others for stuff. Ect. Ect.He never really seemed to find a sweet spot with his weight. Hopefully another year of S&C and development helps out a lot, but I don’t really see how quality depth will be that much better than last year unless we hit big time on both our JUCOs and Solomon is eligible in 2019.
The potential is definitely there if everything goes our way, but there are a lot of big question marks about the DL.
