Who makes the College Football Playoff? The recruiting rankings will tell youStar rankings are from people like Wes Rucker. Enough said.
I think they definitely wanted and still do want Norton. Beyond that, Charles Moore looks to be very, very, high on their list of DE's. After that I think the board is Joseph Anderson and Logue. Don't be surprised if we are in play for Rashad Cheney when it is all said and done.
At DT, Kristian Williams did very well at camp and gained his offer from UT. Both he and Tymon camped closed to the same time this past spring. It looks as if once Kristian stood out and received his offer, the staff started to cool on Mitchell. Tymon Mitchell seemed to be way down the Georgia DT board from the spring and it tells you the misses that have occurred for them at this position.
Oh, I hope so, too! Him and Hampton are tough losses, but what can you do except continue recruiting them.Hopefully we can flip Norton.
You’re no Bruce Lee. Not even Bruce Leroy.Sleegro, thanks man, when I went back and read several back pages of this thread I understood a little better that I was probably taking some fire for some other folks. It was kind of fun though, like one of those old kung fu movies where ten ninjas jump out and attack Bruce Lee in rapid succession, lol.
Not sure what’s so hard to understand about this. We wanted Norton and Hampton and didn’t get them. These other guys? MehWe were his leader this summer. We saw more kids at camp over the summer. We decided to push for a commitment from a different DT and stopped pushing for him. That all happened way before he committed to UGA. So it's kind of hard to claim this is a "we didn't want him anyways" when all this happened way before he committed?
That happens. Sometimes fans claim "we didn't want him anyways" and its not true. It's sour grapes. But that is not the case with most of these instate kids. That is what these sky is falling because of instate recruiting guys keep failing to grasp.
We did want some instate kids that are committed elsewhere. We missed on a few. But not many. CJP does not care about recruiting rankings. He passed on multiple 4 stars instate because he didn't like them.
Where have you proven that Pruitt did push for him?? Blah blah blahHa! You must be 12 or your grandson posts under your handle. You belligerent guys haven't done anything except claim you "know" we didn't want him anyway and we're "not pushing" for him anymore. Blah, blah, blah. Whatever helps you sleep at night, now, continue your sunshine pumping circle jerk.
I did. You didnt miss anything. Davidson kept him in (Mitchell) check with much smaller athletes. He did pass the eye test and flashed once or twice, but overall just a big body. FRA lost 40-20 in what was a larger blowout than the score shows.I would love to go see this guy play tonight vs Davidson Academy (going to BGA game instead). If he and Wilhoite can't dominate (which I never really saw them do last year), it states my case that I think both are way overrated.

Never said it was. Although "proximity don't mean diggity son" according to some, a kid who grows up in the shadow of your stadium is a kid you should get, regardless of who is coaching. Further, common sense would suggest that a university located in Knox County, would have a better likelihood of landing your average kid from Knox County than Palo Alto, CA. Now, am I saying we give every kid from Knox County with the slightest aptitude for playing football a scholarship? Of course not. What I am saying is that the kids with the size and athleticism to play big time college ball on the lines of scrimmage, particularly in the SEC, are sufficiently rare enough that in the future, to build the sort of depth we need at those positions, we want to keep the ones we do grow here in Tennessee, who are good enough for Alabama, Clemson, or Georgia here in Tennessee and wearing the Power T. Absolutely, we should look for these players in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and wherever else they may be found, but our odds of keeping a Cade Mays at home, on average, should always be better than getting an Ohio kid that Ohio State wants, a Pennsylvania kid that Penn State wants, etc., regardless of who is coaching. This is such a basic principle, that it was incorporated into basically every NCAA football game ever made. It's not that hard to understand. And no, I don't believe we didn't want Tymon Mitchell, you guys are free to believe that if you wish of course but you can look at the history of this very thread, that "we don't want him" spin started when it started looking like we weren't going to get him. Regardless, it is not a crisis that we didn't get him or Cade Mays, it's just that to get this program humming optimally, and build that depth we need, we'll want it to be as tough to get Tennessee kids out of Tennessee as it is to get Louisiana kids away from LSU historically, this year not withstanding. Flame away.Losing Mays was not Pruitt’s fault.

The UGA staff has been in contact with Mitchell almost daily since Christmas break of the 2017 season. He wants to play in a base 3-4 defense, which is somewhat unusual in this day and age where more and more players what to be "the guy" making all the plays. He scored a 25 on his ACT and carries a 3.6 GPA so grades won't be an issue. He had offers from schools like Vandy, Stanford and Purdue. He has said he knows if he goes to Georgia he won't start right away, but he believes going against UGA's OL in practice will make him better. It sounds like he's willing to work his way into the starting lineup over a two or three year period. I do think he needs to reposition some weight, and he probably realizes that also. Bascially, UGA is looking for players to play the role that John Atkins did last year. A space eater to occupy blockers so the linebackers can make plays. Hard to fine players who want to play that role. Mitchell will not be able to enroll early, so his recruitment will likely go all the way until February. The Mitchell/UGA recruitment has been a weird one. They weren't even mentioned until UGA wanted Logue. Then all of a sudden you hear about Norton, logue , mitchell wanting to play together. Just came off to me as Uga knowing we would still recruit Norton and logue but think having all 3 makes it even less likely the other 2 flip.
The staff wanted Norton. Eventually they wanted logue but he was butthurt. They passed on Mitchell
Maybe if y’all have a good season and keep recruiting him hard you’ll hold off Vandy and Purdue. no it was collateral from our fans reaction to Butch. Mays was committed to UT and Butch, Mays was quoted as saying he didn't like how Butch was treated by UT.Yea that was one last parting gift from Butch as he left campus with close to 8 million dollars being sent to him the next few yrs. But we're in a much better position thanks to that 4-8 trainwreck.
