'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

Not sure why anyone is trashing him. Personally I want this thread to die…even though I am replying…sigh.

He is a good prospect, I would prefer the transfer from Syracuse as it is a position of need. I don’t really care that Nolan is going to A&M. Need LBs, edge rushers this year. We can fill his spot with the portal if needed in February.

In other words…meh…so can we please let this thread die.

This 100%. But I’m kinda like at this point I hope that we can get him just because of the optics…which is really a stupid reason. I just can’t really remember many kids that had this type of recruitment delivering on the hype. This one really reminds me of Jay Hardy who’s done absolutely nothing. When you look at the defensive lineman that have come in amd do well right out of the gate I think of kids like Tyler baron amd before him Derek Barnett. Both of those guys were top 100 type kids but both were really hungry and ready to get to work. Nolan seems more hungry for attention than anything else. Also, if he can’t tell Tennessee is skyrocketing up as a program right now I don’t know what to say.
Yeah, it's exactly why I want to land him. And it really is a vain reason, but it creates the impression that we are still an attractive option to a kid who can go anywhere he wants. I also think the best possibility for him to maximize his potential is here under the tutelage of Rodney Garner. The motivation to be great is ultimately up to him wherever he decides to go.

Count yourself lucky if this one isn't necro'd regularly until this guy enters the NFL or transfers here (and even then, someone might see this and decide to go bump the Cades or Higgins thread)

I think Nolan is a high risk/high reward type of player. I think he could be all world, he's shown flashes. I also think there's an equal chance he'll crash a burn. I'd love to have him to see what Garner could do with him but I'm not going to really sweat if he does as expected and end up at A&M. I do think he's chosing A&M and for all the wrong reasons.

No I don’t deserve it

He is as fat and lazy as me and you don’t see my hand out for an NIL
I don't care if we get the kid or not. I don't like drama queens. But, everybody keeps talking about how fat, lazy, and out of shape he is.... yet he posted ridiculous stats this season. What you can't question is his God given natural ability. If someone does get him to put in the work, then the sky is the limit. I just think he will always have people around him with their hands out, and he'll be one of the early tragic NIL stories.

Kind of has that Big John Tate feel to it.

Sad story. Around five years after losing the title fight to Mike Weaver I saw him out and he asked me for cigarette money.
I think he died and was buried in an unmarked grave for a period of time. I think money was eventually raised for a headstone.
