Why does it seem that a lot of USCw QBs seem to be less than stellar ? Latest failure is Lienhert....... Just wondering how this could be spun on the recruiting trail ?
It seems clear that they get the press and then turn out to be "paper tigers"...........

Carson Palmer didn't quite fail.

What has he Won ........other than a starting job with some of the best WRs in the NFL ?

oh, he hasn't won anything. My bad. Look at the list of UT QB's who have killed it in the NFL and have won myriad titles. Forget that Palmer was a Pro Bowler and elite QB before he had his knee absolutely destroyed. Nevermind that, his team was just loaded with hall of fame style WRs.

Easy Fella, I'm not looking for someone to prove me wrong, that would be very easy. I'm looking to answer the question of WHY would Big time QBs go there to sit the bench. Mark Sanchez had a nice year last year but is struggling this year. I'm really looking to find out why some of the better QBs go to USC to hold a clip board. It seems they believe they are NFL bound regardless of if they are good enough or not.

Why do people take a question about another school as a slap in the face but can't support their "own" team with the same fervor ?

because a guy like Matt cassell who didnt play at all, is a starting QB in the NFL. I mena, you'd have to take that into consideration , right?

Really? That's what you gathered from my response?

I'll tell you that I didn't take anything you said as a slap in the face. I simply saw it as more rampant homerism, which is THE staple of this board.

Cassell is a starting QB in the league and never played a single down in college. That says alot about the talent level of the USC QBs imo.

Of course. That is my exact question, are they NFL bound when they get to USC, or are they coached so well, or is it the machine that is/was USC recruiting ? Just wondering what makes it so special for QBs ?

Also Matt/Mark aren't lighting it up without the superior talent they played with in college.

That wasn't the purpose of your thread imo

nothing makes it any more special there than anywhere else. They were the vogue school so the top recruits gravitated there. It's nothing new.

Leinart was clearly the product of a great team around him. Collegiate QBs can be incredible with quasi-noodle arms as long as they can think, anticipate and be accurate. Not so in the NFL. I'd say the same to the bunch of geniuses on this board right now beating up on Worley because he doesn't have a rocket for an arm.

Leinart doesn't have the hose and Dirty doesn't have the head. Sanchez was basically a bust at the collegiate level. He was overdrafted because of arm strength and pedigree. That said, he's still awfully young.

Well, now your getting into why I wanted to start a thread on the subject.

Cassell killed it in New England in '08 then went to the cess pool of a team known as the Kansas City Chiefs.

I think you will see a different Cassell this year with Weiss there and Bowe playing in all games.

Another reason he shouldn't be an NFL starter. Also someone said the only QB we've had to make an impact is P. Manning. I agree with this, so I'm wondering why ? What keeps these kids from coming to UT and don't tell we are committed to the running game or it's the SEC.

well, we spent roughly the last 30 years with extremely conservative coaches in a league that predicates winning on ball control and defense. What else is there to say? The SEC has not produced a big number of big time NFL QBs.
