and he did have a better year than Stafford.

Stafford is clearly dumber and neither has the hose or accuracy of Favre.

Another reason he shouldn't be an NFL starter. Also someone said the only QB we've had to make an impact is P. Manning. I agree with this, so I'm wondering why ? What keeps these kids from coming to UT and don't tell we are committed to the running game or it's the SEC.

He had a better year than Matthew Stafford.

Most QBs do not get thrown into the fire on day 1. That is tough.

Why does it seem that a lot of USCw QBs seem to be less than stellar ? Latest failure is Lienhert....... Just wondering how this could be spun on the recruiting trail ?
It seems clear that they get the press and then turn out to be "paper tigers"...........

Of course. That is my exact question, are they NFL bound when they get to USC, or are they coached so well, or is it the machine that is/was USC recruiting ? Just wondering what makes it so special for QBs ?

Since I've already been accused of "blind homerism" in this thread why don't you expound on your theory ......please.

You original post, as I read it, was trying to say that USCw QB's are pretty much failures and why would someone want to go to USC. Seemed like you went a completely different way in your following post after some replies. Maybe I just misinterpreted your OP.

I was just saying haha.

Stafford has a friggin cannon though. That's all they talked about during the draft. Me and my friends have made a joke of how big a deal they made of his arm.

well, we spent roughly the last 30 years with extremely conservative coaches in a league that predicates winning on ball control and defense. What else is there to say? The SEC has not produced a big number of big time NFL QBs.

Again, not picking at you, but why doesn't the SEC produce NFL QBs ?(of course we have a ton in the NFL)
Is it the media who love to show West Coast QBs in snipets, or is it that Defenses are faster/better, or are we just not recruiting them ?
Really just wondering why the NFL is filling up with failing QBs from USC and kids continue to go there ?

Actually I'm not concerned with how my questions are percieved . I don't have an agenda here, I'm simply asking questions to 200,000 people who visit this site.
Excuse me if you don't follow my point but it seems simple to me - We Put Successful Players In The NFL, why do QBs run to USC to hold clip boards and have a good year in the league ?
And I have seen proof that USC has put quality QBs in, but they aren't spectacluar now.
So I asked the question ?
Got it now ?
Stop trying to be combative.....
If you don't like it PM me. Simple really.

That's the thing, the big time highschool qbs look to be the next usc great. They just keep reloading..its just one highschool all american after another. Qb isn't the only position like that either.

Does anyone think that the NCAA sanctions will hurt them ........I meen really hurt them. They have like 50 4-5* QBs already there. Seems they will weather the storm and come back in year 1 with a stud QB or 2 ............

Really? That's what you gathered from my response?

I'll tell you that I didn't take anything you said as a slap in the face. I simply saw it as more rampant homerism, which is THE staple of this board.

This isVolNation.. again...just sayin :p

I dont think it will hurt them any other than in depth. I think they will still sign top players, but obviously not as many.

It's not a bias. Good QBs come from everywhere. It's not as you perceive it.

Starting NFL QBs by Conference

Pac10- 7 (Rodgers, Palmer, Cassell, Anderson, Sanchez, Edwards, Moore)

SEC- 5 (Manning, Manning, Cutler, Campbell, Stafford)

Big10- 4 (Brady, Brees, Orton, Henne)

ACC- 4 (Schaub, Rivers, Hasselbeck, Ryan)

Big12- 3 (Bradford, Young, Freeman)

USA- 3 (Favre, Garrard, Kolb)

Big East- 1 (McNabb)

MAC- 1 (Roethlisberger)

Mountain West- 1 (Smith)

Ohio Valley (FCS)- 1 (Romo)
Colonial (FCS)- 1 (Flacco)
Sun Belt (FCS)- 1 (Delhomme)

Definitely don't agree that USC QBs are consistent flops. I'm more inclined to give that title to Florida QBs or more specifically Urban Meyer QBs as they are not developed for NFL play (but they sure do a hell of a job in the college game).

The thing is that a lot of top programs produce QBs who are flops at the NFL level.

ND - Brady Quinn
USC - Leinart
UF - Weurffel (soon to be Tebow IMO)
LSU - Mr. Purple Drank
Texas - Vince Young (soon to be McCoy IMO)

So as you can see its a crap shoot to a certain extent some QBs just can't make the transition. And regarding USC I think the supporting talent definitely makes a difference, but these are all top flight QB recruits and in years past Sarkisian is a hell of a QB coach.

Cassel not playing a down at USC and being a starting NFL QB says a lot....Carson Palmer has had decent success....and Sanchez went to the AFC championship game his first year......and even if he's "struggling" this year, it's PRESEASON....other than Peyton Manning what other UT QB has accomplished anything in the NFL guy?

I'm not a Titans fan, and to call Young a flop is retarded....he's won 66% of the games he's started, how is that flopping exactly?

Not only that...but the OP mentions nothing but USC's QBs....and nothing about UT...EPIC FAIL

Every single QB that started under Pete Carrol, and one that didn't, has been drafted. Three of them in the first round. If you're an elite QB prospect, you have to like your chances at getting paid, especially since some of them have been underwhelming and still gotten huge contracts.

USC also has a reputation of getting some of the best skill players in the nation, which means potential WB recruits will be throwing to some of the most athletic.

I think if you expand it beyond QB's then you're argument fares better... Joe McKnight being the latest example.

Sanchez is gonna be good imo.

This may very well be true, but if you look at the success level among QB's that played all 4 years in college as opposed to those that left early there is HUGE gap.... I'm sure there is an example out there to prove this wrong, but who is a successful QB in the league that left college early?

I actually think tebow will be a decent NFL QB. Say what you want, but he has an amazing work ethic.

Definitely don't agree that USC QBs are consistent flops. I'm more inclined to give that title to Florida QBs or more specifically Urban Meyer QBs as they are not developed for NFL play (but they sure do a hell of a job in the college game).
