TN has put many successful players in the NFL

nothing makes it any more special there than anywhere else. They were the vogue school so the top recruits gravitated there. It's nothing new.

Leinart was clearly the product of a great team around him. Collegiate QBs can be incredible with quasi-noodle arms as long as they can think, anticipate and be accurate. Not so in the NFL. I'd say the same to the bunch of geniuses on this board right now beating up on Worley because he doesn't have a rocket for an arm.

Pennington, Rich Gannon and maybe Jeff Garcia are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head... but none had career of dominant play though.

I always thought the "overall we put more players in the NFL" arguments are pointless. There are too many variables, with the most important being that there is coaching turnover at all these schools so it doesn't matter what the total number is. Bottom line, if you are good enough to make it, and you have a half competent coach, and you are willing to put in the time on and off the field, you will make the NFL wherever you go. NFL scouts will find you no matter where you are.

Why does it seem that a lot of USCw QBs seem to be less than stellar ? Latest failure is Lienhert....... Just wondering how this could be spun on the recruiting trail ?
It seems clear that they get the press and then turn out to be "paper tigers"...........

It can't be spun, because you are talking about Tennessee players as a whole being successful in the NFL no matter of position. Yet you are talking about only USC QB's as not being successful in the NFL.

Doesn't make sense at all. The title of your thread says many TN players have been successful in the NFL (I'm assuming you mean regardless of position). Yet you are only focusing on QB's USC puts into the NFL as your counterpoint. That just doesn't add up.

If you are comparing Tennessee players as a whole regardless of position why wouldn't you do the same with with former USC players instead of just focus on a single position?

That said the last time I looked Tennessee has 1 QB starting in the NFL. USC has at least 3.

If you solve this question a lot of NFL teams would pay you a lot of money. College success doesn't lead to NFL success. Lienhert is still the same player as he was in college. He was always afraid to push it down the field and loved to check it down. The difference is in college it was a check to Reggie Bush, and he would go for 60 yards for the touchdown. The playing field is now even and Lienhert is just a back up QB.
