Karns wasn't, because either last year or the year before they had a winning record for the first time in over 25 years, if I am not mistaken.

Curious about divisions. Knoxville West is a 5A school but is in the same division as Maryville, which is 6A? Curious why this is. I figured the schools would be in a division based on classification. It's based on location I'm guessing?

Is Cloudland that good to go all the way? That's a northeast team from Carter County.

Based solely on location. West is in Distict 4-AAA where 6 out of the 8 teams in that district are 6A. Compare that to District 3-AAA where 1 out of the 9 teams are 6A. Just the way it is.

Makes it very difficult to get the #1 seed in the 5A Quad because only District winners can be a #1 seed.

Thanks for clearing that up! I sort of figured it was something like that. Makes no sense. Isn't Powell 6A? Looking at the distance in the division, it's a lot to travel from Oak Ridge to Campbell County so why not swap out Powell and West? Seems more legit. I'm sure there are other cases you could make.

They finished last this year, while Anderson County and Campbell County were 1 & 2 but 20-25 years ago were some of the worst teams in the state?

Yeah Karns has never been good. Their claim to fame was I'm wanting to say like 2003. They pulled off a monstrous upset beating the number 1 team from a much higher classification at the time in Kingsport Dobbyns-Bennett. Karns was like 1-5 when they played DB bringing only like their 2nd win.It will rank as one of biggest upsets in STATE of Tennessee history. Iwent to Knoxville Central and my friend went to Karns so I followed em.

Morristown East was down 17-0 at the half and comeback in the 2nd half to beat Dobyns-Bennett 27-17. That teaches them not to send black roses to a football. You can play mind games all you want. The games we prefer are the ones on the field.

Elizabethotn, Sullivan South, Greeneville and Science Hill advance in their respective classes! Elizabethton (10-1) plays Greeneville(11-0) in round 2 next Friday night. GO CYCLONES!

The Devils are gonna clear the next step to that matchup everyone wants to see. Fulton & Greeneville.

Greenville will be the only team out of this group that will make it to the third round. Then Greenville is done after that.

The absolutely "horrid," Maryville "bubba," WGAP football announcers were commenting, post-game Maryville, on some of the other playoff scores and the third announcer who was giving the scores didn't give the Fulton score, instead, asking the other two to guess at what the Fulton score was. One guessed 76 to 6, or 14, don't remember which, and the other guessed 75-6, which was incredibly close. It showed they were "up" on Fulton's scoring prowess machine.

As I said before Elizabethton could have played Greeneville's schedule and gone undefeated too! Would like to see Greeneville play DB, Science Hill, Morristown or Bristol again. Could the Green Devils have beaten Science Hill?

MUS and Ensworth will almost assuredly meet in the state championship. That will be a good one.

I love listening to their broadcasts. They remind me of Varsity Blues.

Campbell County got murdered last night by West. Great season to them boys!

West will dominate Anderson County next week. I think West vs Henry Co for the 5A Championship. No way East Hamilton or Cleveland beats either one of these teams.
