TN In or Out? How fair will it be?

I think we're out and it's fair. UT had a chance to get in by beating Ole Miss. They didn't do it. Yes they played better down the stretch, but the early losses will be too much to overcome IMO.

UT is out. Honestly, they don't deserve to be in the NCAA tourney. They have improved over the course of the season, but losses to Charleston, Oakland and Austin Peay are super ugly. Also, if the Vols can't beat Ole Miss when they know a tourney bid is on the line, then they belong in the NIT.

As much as I hate to admit it, this post is 100% spot on. If there is any whining about us not getting a bid, it's misguided IMO. We had our chances and didn't capitalize on them. No excuses..

GBO!!

Out. And it's fair. Now I agree thing need to change with teams getting in with a losing conference record

They stepped up when they needed to get a three to send it to OT. And who knows, they probably would have stepped up and won it if the referee had not taken away that final opportunity. McBee was on fire.

I think its fair whether or not they're in or out. The way this team closed the season, they have every right to be in the tourney, but the crap show they put on to start the season would warrant them not getting in....So I'm just hoping for the best tonight.

We are out and its not even close. Its really not a bad thing for this team, we will get some good experience under our belts in the NIT. NCAA would have most likely been an early exit.

Tennessee deserves to be treated as the bubble team they are, and all that comes with it including probably being left out or perhaps barely squeaking in.

You don't recruit to top high school prospects with an argument of making deep NIT runs.

The NCAA tourney has no credibility if it lets in a team that lost at home to Austin Peay.

Seriously. You make the NCAAT, you have a chance to win the whole damn thing theoretically, despite the talent on your team.

You have no shot with the NIT.

Exactly. You can't compare going one and done in the NCAAT with winning the NIT, because no one has proof that either would happen. We could go to the tournament, start making a lot of shots and go to the sweet sixteen. Or we could go to the NIT and get upset in the first game. Looking back, one option may look better, but at the moment how could you not want to be a part of one of the most exciting events in sports.

Truth - we can hope to be pleasantly surprised but in reality we didn't do enough to warrant being let in.

And what you're missing / forgetting though - a big part - was they shot what, less than 30% the entire game?

The main reason we kept up the first half because ole miss / the refs were foul happy and kept sending us to the line

This team was picked to finish 11th in the SEC and into December they looked like that team. They turned it up and finished with the 2nd seed in the tournament. It's clear this team is headed in the right direction. I give this season a solid B if not B+.

They were still in the game regardless. McBee shot well when it mattered and hit 2 more clutch 3's in OT. I liked our chances at a game-winning shot. No matter how poorly they played, the game came down to the wire and UT was in a position to win.

Exacty; this is the main thing here.
