OP doesn't understand that other bubble teams aren't the only ones that can take a tourney spot. UT is the last team in right now. One mid-major team stealing a conference championship would kick out UT.
Last team in according to who? One person, Lunardi. Others have UK as last team in, so if a bids stolen it may be at UKs expense.
You don't want to enter the tourney with a bad loss in the S.E.C. tourney. I am sure that we will not win every game in the S.E.C. tourney but you don't want to have a bad loss by 15 or so points, then head to the tourney.
Also, what if a team that is a huge underdog wins the S.E.C., then they will be in the tourney, right?

Yup...you're talking about ranking the top 50 since auto bids go to the others so the idea that one person could rank a team 46th and others wouldn't have a ddifferent opinion is crazy...just look at the different ranking sometimes in the major polls.. I do think bto that there has been on emphasis in recent years to deemphasize last 10 games relative to recent years...head of selection committee was interviewed at HT of Xavier-Memphis on tigers network and he said as much...also something he said that backs up a lunardi opinion was that qual wins > not having bad losses..
Maybe because there are only a handful of AtLarge teams that don't have bad losses.Yup...you're talking about ranking the top 50 since auto bids go to the others so the idea that one person could rank a team 46th and others wouldn't have a ddifferent opinion is crazy...just look at the different ranking sometimes in the major polls.. No, that's not the way it works.
I know that's not the way that it's supposed to work but if you are a bubble team and you lose to another bubble team, it would be hard to disregard that. I also wonder why they would want to deemphasize the last 10 games. Isn't the whole objective to get better as the season progresses? UK and UT both lost their best players, both teams had to regroup, redefine roles, people had to step up, coaches had to do more with less. Shouldn't that be rewarded?
