'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

Don’t know for sure that we retain Johnson and Lane, but if we do Harris most likely rejoins the DL fold.
I don’t see Lane leaving since he’s a Gibbs boy and playing for UT is his dream. Jahmir i could see leaving..but he would have to sit a year, and has only one year left of eligibility and also already went the juco route. Just seems like a lot of moving around for little gain. Who knows

Just making sure it wasn’t legit. It’s so VN to complain incessantly about landing OT’s and then want a highly rated one moved to OG.
“Want” got nothing to do with it. (On my part)

Can he actually play OT? Or is he better suited for the interior?

OT is the more valuable position. I’d PREFER he excel there. He may not though.

[Wanya playing both RT and LT simultaneously ]

Reminds me of a story Billy Crystal told of guy who was so fast, he hit a line drive up the middle and hit himself in the head sliding into second.

He arrived relatively late and was the best we’ve put at RT in quite awhile. Got the feet and reach and nasty temperament ideal for RT.

Are we sure he isn’t in line to graduate by May? If so, that’s open. There are “dreams” and there is possibility of playing time. The other Johnson was a lifelong fan and saw the writing on that roster wall. That’s the “little gain”...playing time.

He has the size and reach for sure. Jury may be out on the feet. Predicating the need to move inside...

We’ll see. I’d love to see him stick there and lock it down.

I’m pretty positive Jahmir had 3 years of eligibility. Thing about Lane is, I’m pretty sure he knew he was getting a great opportunity coming to UT since he wasn’t seriously recruited by other power 5s except us. Johnson was a four star recruit out of HS and started the vast majority of the time he was here

I have no idea whether C Mays will end up at TN next season or not much less whether he gets a green light from the NCAA for immediate eligibility which seems extremely unlikely unless he has a family situation that hasn't been known or made public. If he does somehow end up wearing orange I see him at the guard position instead of tackle, I didn't see anything about his play at tackle as a Sophomore that was any better at all than Morris or Wright as Freshman and they should both only get better and better. Just my opinion, I'll trust the staff to make that call if indeed it ever happens.
Personally I'd rather land Broderick Jones in this class and Mays can do whatever he wishes, stay or go.

And Ollie Lane has playing time at a lower level school. Like Johnson at Georgia Tech. He was starting at the beginning of the season and that QUICKLY regressed. Maybe Lane Dillon Bates it, but I could see him transferring.
