'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

I don't have a problem with o-lineman having that mean streak about them. They need that, don't get me wrong. But Cade's age doesn't excuse some of the things he did last Friday including but not limited to:

1.) Getting to Maryville and walking to the center of the field and spitting on the Maryville emblem

2.) Hurting a Maryville player and then openly mocking his injury to Maryville's coaching staff

3.) Refusing to shake hands with any player at the end of the game, but instead storming off the field like a baby

4.) Consistently using incredibly foul language on the Maryville sideline directed at Maryville players and coaches

I was not told about any of these things, but witnessed all four personally. It happened.

I don't care how old you are, you should know better than to conduct yourself in such a manner, especially if you are the star player for a Christian school.

How did he injure the Maryville player? I don't like the spitting that much, but the rest I could live with other than the injury mocking. I would hope that someone would correct him for some of his behavior.

The spitting wouldn't bother me in the least. Neither would language or passion or being upset after a loss. The only thing that would bother me is mocking an injury, and I'm not buying it.

By Cade's sophomore year I could see us having one of the best, if not the best, offensive line in the country.

Seniors: Richmond, Boulware, Tatum, Hall
Juniors: Trey Smith, Calbert, Locklear, Niehaus, Ryan
Johnson, Devante Brooks

and Cade would be a sophomore. So the line would likely look like this:

LT:Richmond/Tatum
LG:Boulware/Locklear
C:Johnson/Niehaus
RG:Smith/Calbert
RT:Mays/Hall

That seems way over the top. The only issue I have with the spitting is that it might enflame the other team and make them even more fired up, but I would not be overly worried about it. The injury mocking is by far, the biggest issue and I do have a hard time seeing him point and laugh at somebody who has been hurt.

Also, let's remember that Trey Smith destroyed his roommate at the Under Armour game and we love him :). Give me him and Mayes all day long.

He picked up #25 for Maryville and slammed the kid to the ground. It was a legal play but then he said something to the Maryville coaches along the lines of "#25 is a little bit**."

It happened man. I heard and saw it.

So you're not giving him any chance at all to follow in Trey Smith's footsteps? Ala- starting as a freshmen?

I'm not saying Cade will, but I wouldn't be surprised also. I've seen him play 3x. Dude is a beast.

He was without a doubt the most dominant lineman I've ever seen in high school. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a starter.

So, no injury then? Maybe #25 was a little *****. Maybe he'd been running his mouth or playing dirty during the game. I see no problem there. Thanks for the info though.

What injury did he cause and what did he say to Maryville coaches about it?

Apparently he butthurt the other team, or at least their fans. I like the passion but it just means you gotta back it up on the field. I think Cade can certainly do that.

Injured or hurt?

Mean streaks are great as long as they're controlled. When they result in unsportsmanlike penalties, they tend to piss me off.

As long as he doesn't spit in the urinal I'm good.

I'm pretty sure #25 didn't play for the rest of the game because he took off his shoulder pads and had ice on his shoulder.

Exactly and that's my point of concern, but too many here are concerned with assuming I'm a snowflake for some reason.

I wasn't at the game, but would assume a Maryville/Knox Catholic game was well attended. The crowd, especially the home team side, was likely loud and raucous. You must have been in a great position to see the game if you were able to hear a player trash talking. You don't happen to wipe your brow with a yellow hankie, do you?

No but I do happen to have a press pass that allowed me to be on the field so kiss a$$.

That explains a lot.

Fake news? :)

I was just trying to reason out how you were in a position to hear what was being said. No reason to get nasty. Your comment is along the lines of what you were chiding Mays about. Pot meet kettle.

Can't believe a week later and people still talking about what he did last week. He is playing his second game of the season tonight for crying out loud. Just let it go and let's talk about how he is doing tonight.

Welcome. Gif posting practice is at 1800 and supper chow will be at 1900. Tonight's menu is Steak Stuffed Swiss Cake Rolls with brown gravy, a Pork Chop with Zebra Cake Glaze, and baked potatoes. Then feel free to engage the all you can eat Little Debbie Dessert Bar.

I'm definitely in. Not sure what I'm supporting but I'm in.

Funny how a couple of fans give their take on what they witnessed, and this place turns into the FF, which everyone is always *****ing about. No one called for Cade to be strung up, they only gave their opinion on what they saw. Why the desperate need to tear them down for it? Last I checked, all involved were Vol fans. Can we not have simple conversations between each other without them turning into scrums?
