'26 TN OT Gabriel Osenda (Tennessee commit)

Stick around. Some of us appreciate what you bring, good or bad. We're all adults, here...we can figure out for ourselves what to do with the info you bring. Some will believe it, others won't. C'est la vie.
This. Appreciate the input KingVFL provides to this board and has proven to be one of the most reliable insiders on here. People can make up their minds about our oline coaching but think everyone can see that this year will be key in seeing if we can actually develop olineman which remains to be seen

VN is a message board, not a grand jury, FFS. I’m so tired of these smug, parsing posts.

Speaking as a long-time lurker, the RF has become noticeably more toxic over the last few weeks. There’s a few posters who have taken it upon themselves to arbitrate the “correct” opinions on everything from Elerbee’s job performance to portal recruiting.
"weeks?"

More than one thing can be true. GE could in fact be light on the recruiting side and still have the respect of one or more of his OL recruits, those statements aren't mutually exclusive. Not sure why that would be controversial, particularly given the number of OL fails and flips we've had over the years.

Wait, so you’re telling me that different personalities resonate differently with different people? And ALL recruits/players don’t have to love or hate a certain coach collectively?

Based on all of your posts in this thread on the matter, you seem to be under some impression that KingVFL is almost explicitly responsible for any negative perception of Elarbee’s performance to date, and that if he would simply stop posting what he hears the toxicity levels would decrease.

Our fanbase may be passionate and crazy, but they can form their own opinions and I would surmise that most people that have a negative opinion of Elarbee has nothing to do with “insiders” and has everything to do with the struggles of the position on the field.
If you'd read all of my posts, you'd have noted the ones that said he may be partially responsible, and questioned the wisdom of feeding whatever other factors may be at hand. Here's an example that was fairly explicit.

You aren't wrong. That's much different than him being "allowed" to do it. Sometimes one can self-censor, especially when it comes to gossip and trashing someone's work ethic.

But alas, the damage is done. He can't retract. It is what it is. Now we can just endure a board that went from rejoicing at the miraculous program rebirth, to bitching, crying, moaning and calling for coach jobs. (Not saying it was all King, but he didn't help.)

And another immediately after:

And in my experience, people are most adept at forming quality opinions when multiple perspectives have been offered, which I have done. Quality opinions rarely evolve in an echo chamber.

What is more mutually exclusive would be that Elarbee gets no credit for the commitment, and the commit gives him massive credit. As well, that King is not merely passing along the opinions of unnamed sources, but is just passing along the "sentiments" of unnamed sources.

like hearing from king instead of most the bs from other posters. Good or bad still ok to me.

What is mutually exclusive is enjoying coming to this thread to get some updates on our latest commitment and instead having to sort through a bunch of posts debating the value of one of our position coaches and the impact against said coach due to the posts of Kingvol.

IIRC back when Darnell Wright was playing for CGE, it was said that CGE was not great on the recruiting trail but once the players were in his OL room that they really liked playing for him. Darnell Wright improved greatly under CGE and he gave him a lot of credit for his improvement.
Cooper Mays has, too. ALL SEC 1st Team this year. Although Spraggins had a nice freshman year in 2020, under old staff; until this year, he had gotten much better in each of his first 3 years under Elarbee. I think he had a down year this season, yet he still made 3rd Team ALL SEC.

John Campbell had a real nice season last year at LT, before he got hurt and missed the last 3 games. He only gave up one sack and one QB hit...in 530 snaps. Something many here hasn't considered about his 24 season...Taylor Lewan was asked one time how hard it is to go from one side of the line to the other. He said it's like writing your entire life with one hand, and all of sudden switching to the other hand. Add to that Campbell's injuries.

Yes, the OLine struggled to protect Nico this year (some of it being on Nico, himself, though); but, they also paved the way for the greatest single-season effort we have ever seen for a RB, the SEC POTY. We've led the SEC in rushing the past two years; and 2021, 2022 are two of the greatest offensive seasons (total...pass, run, pts), again, that we have EVER seen. Elarbee's OLines led the way for all of that.

And, regardless of how it's being done, whether Elarbee can recruit or he can't...we just landed the most highly regarded prospect...again, that we have ever seen in ratings history. Our last two OLine hauls have been very solid, and 26 is off to a really good start with Osenda.

Every thread turns into wanting an immediate coaching change or whining over Spyre.

VN isn’t what it used to be.

These are not my opinions. I don’t really want to debate the definition of an opinion vs a fact but I’m really just sharing the sentiment the people that live this.
Just block those guys and hang around. They want to make sure you hear their opinion over and over.

it's only one poster, who has to get the last word on everything, that has to keep spewing the same garbage. Dude is literally unbearable. King brings great info, who gives af if he doesn't think CGE is doing his job? It's obvious that's what he's being told or what he's witnessed. He brings 1000% more to this board than that one particular poster could ever dream about bringing.

I remember light hearted joking throughout this forum during the Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt disasters. Now, it’s too difficult to wade through the vinegar to even find opportunities for funny gifs. And we made the playoffs.
I think being so close has many people taking life as a fan more seriously. We sucked for a long time

I guess I don't understand. You say that you'd give Elarbee no credit. The recruit himself gives Elarbee a lot of credit, and specifically names the relationship Elarbee created with him.

Are you implying that someone else created the relationship between Osenda and Elarby? If Osenda is to be believed, they talked and communicated a lot. That seems somewhat contradictory to your statement that you would not give Elarby "any credit".

Considering Osenda is giving him lots of credit.
Spreading misinformation, buddy. 😒

Maybe. But being a fan during the past two decades takes some serious dedication.
I literally tried to quit being a fan multiple times, but spending so much time on these darn message boards makes it impossible. It feels like it's my kids out there playing. Had my wife change my password but I just started a new account to feed the addiction.
